*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Because 5.0 is pretty **** and buggy as hell and has rendered the battery life to comically bad levels.

Thought it was a fairly obvious comment.

I've used five Lollipop ROMs now and not encountered a single issue with any of them. Making sweeping statements that Lollipop is buggy as hell is factually inaccurate. I'm sorry you are having problems but not everybody is having that experience.

Never had a problem with 5.0 battery life was no better or worst than it was on 4.4.4, got the ota update aswell last night if anything for me at least 4G signal on Three is now slightly better at home getting 4 bars was as before the update 2 to 3 bars at best & at work I'm now picking up 4G in certain parts I wasn't before.

The proportion of people who OTA updated having issues is a lot higher than those that flashed or factory reset.

I certainly share Freefallers issues with my OTA updated phone. Now that I have removed and reinstalled the apps it broke, im now getting random freezes and odd behaviour in apps, and battery life that has fallen through the floor.

I'm holding out for 5.0.1. If that doesn't fix things I will do a factory reset.

Is anyone having issues with the latest build of TWRP and lollipop - in terms of the backups made.?

I have the latest build of that recovery and was using LP5, now using a CM 12 build, and I find that it goes through all the motions of backing up every partition etc and creating the md5 file but when I reboot the phone I find that the TWRP backup folder is empty apart from one XML file. Usually you see all the different files etc which have been backed up.

I have read about people having issues getting into recovery or reboots of their phone since changing to LP and using the latest build of TWRP but nothing like I am seeing.

It is working fine (TWRP) with my LG G PAD 8.3 and LP 5.01.

I'm not. There have been a plethora of issues across the world with lollipop.

And seeing from your clear indignation on my comment you're clearly struggling to pick up on this fact, hence why my post was relating to the fact that I (as well as thousands of others) have been having issues, even numerous people on these very forums, and the "do I dare" for the update was a bit of a tongue in cheek relating to that fact.

Sorry for tarring you with such an awful sweeping statement - I hope you were not overly offended by it... anyone would have thought I mentioned iOS!

I'm tempted to do a factory reset - I will see how it behaves over the next couple of days, but the problem is I'm off to Oz so I may just have to struggle on!

Just done the update and so far, the performance seems a bit better, the stutter I use to get when pulling down the notification bar is gone now.

Looking for a network to upgrade to, from Vodafail for the Nexus5

Im seeing some deals on O2 and on EE for the nexus 5

Approx £22p/m for either a free handset, or £39 for the handset and £19p/m tarrif

EE would be useful in cardiff where I live as its 4G enabled

Does this seem about the going rate for an unlimited text/unlimited call/1GB month cap?

Ill keep shopping, although most are being centrered around the Nexus6 at the moment, im not too fussed about having a nexus 6

I upgraded my Nexus 5 to Lollipop manually using the Google images and tools.
Should it still receive updates to that automatically, or would I now need to install each update manually too?

I noticed 5.01 is out but the phone is not picking it up.

It'll come, I flashed the images as soon as they were released and got the OTA yesterday.
Not that I can install it though as I'm rooted and have CWM installed!

The only issue I had with 5.0 was the sudden drop in signal at home, I didn't notice any performance issues. Possibly WiFi was using more battery than before, but then I have to use ThreeInTouch at home all of the time now so that may have made a difference. Battery performance was worse, but the 98% time without a signal does that!

5.01 hasn't improved the signal at all, Google services is now raping the battery which I didn't have issues with before. Time to look into custom ROM/kernel/radio combos I guess. Which is annoying as I like vanilla Android and don't like messing with workarounds for apps that don't like rooted devices.
