*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

5.0 is brilliant if you do a full wipe, but understandably not everyone is willing to do that.

Is that Google's problem? Yes, though it must be a mammoth project to prepare a major OS upgrade for such a variation of devices and apps, though you'd expect stock Nexus devices to be less susceptible to such issues, which clearly isn't always the case.

They could probably be more open explaining the reasoning why some have these issues and what steps could be taken to resolve them too (even if it's merely an advisory to do a full wipe prior to install).

I sideloaded 5.0 from 4.4.4. Pretty sure that doesn't qualify as a full wipe. Do you mean a factory image install?

Because 5.0 is pretty **** and buggy as hell and has rendered the battery life to comically bad levels.

Thought it was a fairly obvious comment.

i thought what he was asking was pretty obvious, and that (i assume) is why wouldn't you download this 5.01 update as 5.0 is reported as being buggy, and this is a bug fix. this update is literally for one thing and that's to fix the bugs that are causing the issue. why wouldn't you dare?

Got the 5.0.1 update yesterday and got stuck with Google Play Services stuck in a crash/close error loop.

Between clicking to close the error, managed to launch play and it then seemed to also try and update it after a couple reboots. Took some time as the crash would then stop the update downloading.

I did a full wipe (by accident) when I flashed lollipop and have had no problems with it at all. It has been very good. I sideloaded 5.0.1 the other night and again everything is working great. I have had zero errors nor any reboots.
Only thing I have had problems with was Cerberus not saving settings but the app updated the other day and that seems to have fixed it.

The OTA 5.01 update failed on my Nexus 5, I tried a sideload and that got error messages.

So I downloaded the full factory image, flashed it in fastboot mode, and I have now re-locked the oem bootloader again. I cannot be bothered with rooting anymore, just completed 78 app restore!!

Everything seems to be running OK on 5.01. I will report back if anything causes concern.

Because I'm just not brave enough.

But I am, because I did it. And did a full factory wipe / reset. Let's see if this makes it any better.

I miss KK :(

Not factory install as that wipes media such as photos, just the wipe which clears the app settings (game save data and so on).

But if you're not having any issues with the upgrade obviously don't bother.

Last time the Nexus 5 came out, the nexus 4 had it's price slashed dramatically. I hope they do the same this time around, but it probably won't happen, considering they kind of failed with the nexus 6.

We are out of stock, please check back soon.

Well, not quite back then!

Stock levels aside, it was previously pulled from the play store site. The fact it's even listed either means they're selling old stock or the nexus 6 is a failure and they're making new nexus 5's.

Looking to get a Nexus 5 again as I really regret selling mine. Where's the best place to get a 32GB version?
I see that Expansys have them in stock however I've heard bad things about the company. Does anyone have any suggestions other than the usual eBay / Gumtree routes?

Google play has 32gb back in stock but I'm sure its cheaper else where.

On other note 5.0.1 is better but its still has some memory issues, I don't have any of the bugs I had before expect WiFi randomly disconnecting and won't re-connect unless I do it manual. Its not the biggest issue since I have 4G but a tad annoying.

Going to be annoying going forward, nothing else in the android scene matches my needs, if only google had a 2014 Nexus 5. I currently brought a z3 for a family member and I've been using it, Sony's skin in generally is ok, still ugly compared to stock Android. Its smooth enough too, but again not as good as stock Android, battery is great, its a tad too tall thou which is annoying.
