*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

So the new battery didnt help. So far I have:

- Factory restored.
- Replaced charging dock PCB
- Tried 3 batteries.
- Tried 3 AC units
- tried a handful of USB cables.

Ive yet to try a QI charger.
Anyone got a smashed Nexus 5 they are willing to sell for parts? Im thinking maybe the motherboard is at fault now.

try dumping a new ROM on it :) might be something dumb kernel related that limits the charge :o

I've reverted back to my original charging dock pcb along with my original battery. I'm currently charging off USB and hit 84%!! I've done a factory image load also. Hopefully this will sort all issues. If not, I have more spares coming.

One thing I forgot to mention was that the only AC charger that seems to work every time is a charger at work for a Samsung tab S. Even a new Motorola charger doesn't work.

I've always had a constant reboot problem but now the power button has given up on me and it's permanent. These phones are so cheaply made it's ridiculous. Back to a GS3 now. :(

I've got the Developer Preview of Android M on my 5. Will I get the official OTA update to M final, or will I have to flash on the final image when its released?

If it's the same as L (and not sure why they'd change it) then no, the Developer Preview images only updated to newer Developer Previews, I needed to flash back to the official/release Lollipop image which then updates as normal.

Cool, thanks.

The OTA to Lollipop was a bit of a pig for quite a few people. I think I'll wait for the official M build to be released and then flash that straight on over my Developer build.

my nexus 5 which is just under 2 years old is suffering battery issues i think, its just running flat with only 10 minutes of use from full charge, the battery icon goes down a bit but it must be still showing 90% full before it turns off. I only had the Tapatalk app open

Is this a classic case of a battery fault ?

Is it possible to get a genuine battery for these phones since all i read online is of fake ones

Thanks

Yes, It sounds like you are suffering from a battery failure. If you aren't scared of opening it up then I would change it out.

Just pry off the rear cover, Take out 6 screws on the upper plastic cover and remove that. Here you will find the connection for the battery. Just pop that off then carefully pry the battery out.

Just like this

Just got the 6.0 update on my current N5, Battery life has already improved by the looks of it. It alos appears that my wireless signal has taken a hit and dropped a notch.

It's killed the battery life on mine. WiFi is draining ~40% even when WiFi is disabled.

Worse with it enabled. I had to disable 5GHz WiFi as it was as below

and it screwed up location too :(
