*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Had mine pop up last night. Too early to say anything re battery life but overall seems great. App permissions and battery life % in task bar alone make it worthwhile !

How did you enable %?

Is this the system UI tweak? I just wish it was a simple on off option like on IOS.

The batter percentage is there when you charge the phone, so why not make it an on off option in the settings!!

Got Marshmallow two days ago and all seemed good. Battery life certainly improved a lot on my Nexus 5.
Fast forward to today and I now have no carrier signal (EE). Restarts, APN updates to no avail. Not exactly ideal...

Pull down the notification shade and then hold down the Settings cog. It should enable the SystemUI tweaker in options which allows you to add the percentage to the battery. :)

I think my improved battery life was short lived. Saying that, I still have an odd issue of not charging after a few days until a restart and a few ins and outs of the charger.

Yes, It sounds like you are suffering from a battery failure. If you aren't scared of opening it up then I would change it out.

Just pry off the rear cover, Take out 6 screws on the upper plastic cover and remove that. Here you will find the connection for the battery. Just pop that off then carefully pry the battery out.

Just like this

A link for a decent battery.

Talking of replacing batteries.
The LG G2 was the "LG branded" phone released around the same time as the N5.
However, that had a 3000mAh battery as standard as opposed to the 2300mAh in the N5.
I see you can buy a replacement battery for that for around the same price:

What do you think the chances are you could do a straight replacement?
Maybe worth considering for a bit of extra battery life?

There is a guide on how to fit a larger battery but requires grinding/filing away internal parts of the phone and soldering connectors to the battery. I'll see if I can find it again.

It's in the style of the kitkat % enabler app from the play store, rather than the proper font you see when you charge it or swipe down the notification area.

What a bodge.

Just as per other thread. Had the horrible power button issue today, just short of 2 years from ownership (have the original models from release day).

Google have honoured the warranty, I only have 7 days left on it!
