NFL 2016 Season

I'd take Fisher over Chip Kelly anyday. Niners will be left in as bad a shape as the Eagles were by Kelly.

He's a damn good college coach but sucks in the NFL.

least the eagles had 2 winning seasons while he was there, fisher in the same position wouldn't have done it, and after what happened in the draft we're at least 2 drafts away from fixing any of the issues we have :(.

had a look around and from what i can find fishers last winning season was 2008 at Tennessee, 5 losing seasons at the rams and another this season, i have no idea how the hell he's still in a job :(

Under Kelly the Eagles went 27-21 over his 3 years. I wouldn't call that 'winning'. They did sneak into the playoffs in his first year with a wildcard berth but lost that game. Going 10-6 in his second year but missing the playoffs is like kissing your sister....

He decimated their team, getting rid of good players to show he was the boss. That's great as long as you can replace them, but he couldn't. The Eagles became a laughing stock.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that Fisher is some great coach, he's not. Mediocre at best, just that I think he's better suited for the NFL than Kelly is.

oh i know he caused them major problems, but i just think fisher would done an even worse job.

i know the draft choices arn't just down to fisher, but the decisions made have ruined any chances of moving forward for the next 2-3 seasons, at least the eagles eventually got rid of kelly :D, we've suffered under fisher for 4 seasons, going on 5......

i don't think there that much different, and certainly not different enough to keep him.

Yeah, I did see 20 straight winning seasons, but I'm not about to give a Cowgirls coach any credit... :p

Kelly may be out first, but I bet he leaves for another job (college perhaps) and Fisher perhaps not.

The NFL would. A 'winning season' is winning more than you lose.

I heard Jeff Fisher is like 10 losses from being the NFL's most losing coach of all time...

**EDIT** Don Shula only had 2 losing seasons in 33 years!!!?!? That's amazing!

stat on the link that says it all :

Fishers .517 winning percentage is the lowest for ANY nfl coach who has been in the league for more than 20 seasons.

edit :

just watching the pittsburgh game and just seen a hit on Roethlisberger, don't see any reason it wasn't flagged, seen mention of the hits him and cam take cos of their size, but the refs need to do something about it.

On the plus side, at least a Jimmy G injury would make it an easy choice to bring back Brady once he's served his suspension. Imagine if the Pats were to go 4-0 during Brady's suspension with Jimmy G as QB, it would make for a very tough decision for Belichick.

Stats don't tell the whole story. Kelly completely lost his team when at the Eagles.... completely. Plus the fact that he devastated the org. for years to come.

He's a complete failure in the NFL. And if he doesn't fix that with this stint in SF he'll be done in the NFL.

Fisher, not the best coach, but his teams want to play for him.

I'll take Fisher over Kelly anyday! (not that I want either....)

Good win for the 'Boys. We needed that one. Dak played really good again. Zeke... not so much. Gotta hold onto the ball son!

Huge int by Church!! A game changer for sure.

thought we were going to give that game to the hawks with all the stupidly timed penalties :(.

i know wilson was no where near 100%, but i have to ask the same question i did last year, if we can beat the hawks, how the hell do we perform so badly on other weeks

Oldest mantra in the NFL: "On any given Sunday".

Definitely. If we'd got a TD there, I think it was our game. Cousins isn't playing like he was last year, he missed a couple that would also have probably secured the win, I think one to Crowder literally about 6 inches too far for example. The jump balls in the endzone were all a little too short too.

oh please tell me someone is kidding :

"It has been widely reported for weeks that Fisher would be handed a contract extension soon. "

:( :( :(
^ Who else do you want? There's more to the Rams issues than the coach.

You need to stop messing about with Keenum tbh, he isnt fit for purpose at all. Jared Goff is the future and its pretty crappy the way hes been treated over there just because he hasnt delivered out the gate. He certainly isnt going to be picking up anything productive from Keenum so get him in games and commanding the team now so you can start figuring out what works and doesnt ready for the '17 drafts.

I give Keenum two games max before he's benched for the entire season.

i know there are problems in the front office, the last draft proved that, but the main issues stem from fisher, to replace him i'd be willing to give Dave McGinnis the chance to step up until the end of the season.

much as i like gurley, you have to give him a chance, at the moment teams are just blocking the middle and battering him.

problem with putting goff in is, like gurley, the battering he'll take, pre season etc has shown him up to be ok at best, which with our o-line isn't enough.

our offensive needs to work something out, we could get rid of the o-line coaches but i think the issues stem from fisher.

after the deal they made for goff i've written off the '17 draft.

our o-line wasn't good enough going into the '16 draft and i'd have preferred them to firm that up to help protect gurley/the qb but they didn't.

part of my issue with going with goff is that he hasn't really shown anything promising, even some pocket awareness could help from getting flattened, but i think if we put him in he's going to be in a world of hurt.

agree about keenum, but i think his only other option at the moment is mannion, and thats from the point of view fisher doesnt want to rush goff, i can't see it happening cos fisher is a stubborn guy, but i'd love to see goff start.

for me, as i've said before, i don't see the point of making the deal we need to get the no1 pick and not start him from game 1, adjust the playbook to fit in with what they think he could do and go from there.

the 49'ers was a shocking game for us, but we're not likely to have many "easier" games to put goff into.
