NFL 2021 Season

can't believe the rams haven't learnt from the mess with goff.

The club and its Super Bowl-winning quarterback are closing in on a four-year, $160 million contract that includes $135 million guaranteed and a $60 million signing bonus

Rams later confirmed its effectively for three years and worth $129 million with added years for cap purposes

Personally I wouldn't compare Stafford to Goff, i.e. he's much better. But I think that the Rams had to do something as Stafford was entering the last year of the deal he signed in Detroit. I doubt they would have been able to sign for less, and therefore would be a risk for him to go elsewhere as a FA next year (particularly after winning the SB). So again probably the going rate and makes sense to keep him and continue the success.

i realise they had no choice, but that's my issue it was a case of having to as they had no real other option due to their already being all in and given away their main draft options they had nothing to bargain with.

we got to\won the superbowl but that was more on kupp than stafford, imo hes not that much better than goff, maybe doesn't fumble as much but outside of that so many poor decisions\throws last season that i don't put down to being in a new system.

Fair enough. For me Stafford was always close to a franchise QB in Detroit and did step up in the post season last year, particularly in the game against Tampa. Given the outcome of the trade was that the Rams won the big prize I think moving onto a new QB just wouldn't make sense atm. There's a window and the Rams should have 1 or 2 more chances to add to the SB. Unlike the AFC the NFC post-season and contenders may just be the same this year.

Kupp had a phenomenal season and I do think should have been the MVP. That said Stafford did his part.

can't believe some of the qb moves, now ryan has gone to the colts

Its been a crazy off-season for FA and trades. I don't remember one this active and involving such big names for a while. In other years moves like Rodgers re-signing or Brady un-retiring would have been talked about longer. Instead it has been a constant flow of mega news; Wilson, C.Kirk/Jags spending, Von Miller, Adams, Ryan, Watson etc. Obviously that last example generating huge debate. Even normally fairly known names like Robinson or Wagner have been relegated to page 2. We've yet to get to the draft and draft day deals. Or where Mayfield and Garoppolo end up. And we've even had the annual players threatening to hold out; Adams.

So yea, what an off-season.

I was glad last year when Wentz went to the Colts and therefore they wasted a 1st on him - rather than the Bears. Given how competitive the Colts are I do expect better for Ryan but I guess we'll have to see. You do sense a move was probably a good thing, like Stafford & Wilson. A chance to be rejuvenated a bit.

feel a bit sorry for falcons fans, gone from julio jones\calvin ridley\matt ryan to marcus mariota\kyle pitts , would have had ridley but the idiot got himself suspended.

suprised the rams have traded robert woods, but guess they want obj that bad they couldn't have both :(

as for mayfield\jimmy g the only 2 places i can think of are carolina or new orleans , but the saints are trying to sort out their cap issues.

the jags will be interesting, not sure they've spent their money in the best way, and lawrence has a lot to prove.

Yea Saint have just contracted Winston on a protect themselves, majority of the money for yr 2 deal. So could draft late but I don't think will pursue a big trade after missing out on Watson.

I think Mayfield is in trouble for starting spots. Rich Eisen was saying Seattle probably the best bet but if they like someone in the draft then they might wait on Mayfield. They also linked the Steelers but only if Mayfield was released.

Does feel like Carolina, Atlanta, Detroit, Seattle and Pittsburgh are all likely to be targeting a QB in the draft. I guess if one or two miss out then Mayfield and Garoppolo could be fallback options, or indeed trades on draft day.

i think the problem they have with winston is his injuries, do they trust he can stay healthy, they don't seem to trust hill so they have a problem, but as they have cap issues not sure they could get mayfield.

from what i've seen of the mock drafts out there, consistent picks on 3 qb's, but not high up so options for all the teams timber mentioned to pick or trade.

just seen the chiefs have traded hill to the dolphins, could be an interesting season for them

dolphins doing a lot of work to help tua, so he needs to have a good season

Again another crazy big move. Never ending. Seems so unbelievable that a team has let a top WR1 go in their prime. But I get it Hill was expensive and KC have cap issues.

I've read there's likely to be 7-10 WRs going in the first round alone given how good this year's draft class is. Certainly it seems at this point WRs will be in demand.

Yeah, saw that this morning. Really sad for someone so young and talented. I know he didn't help my Washington team, but I was genuinely looking forward to seeing what he might do ay Pittsburgh :(

Dwayne Haskins died yesterday, hit by a truck as he was walking along the freeway.:confused:

saw that and my thoughts were the same, be interesting to see if anything comes out of this if theres an investigation

{edit}

looks like washington could be in trouble:

The U.S. House Oversight Committee sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday saying it found evidence the Washington Commanders may have engaged in potentially unlawful financial conduct for more than a decade by withholding ticket revenue from visiting teams and refundable deposits from fans.

I listen to Ross Tucker. He played for 7 years (not at super high level, but still...) and has some good guests on. He does a variety of different shows, one of them is focused on Fantasy Football.

Has anyone got any good NFL podcast suggestions? About to start a long commute and want to boss the fantasy league this year!

I've just listened two of the official NFL podcasts for years: Around the NFL (these guys appear on Sky's UK coverage a lot) and NFL Fantasy Football. Both of these shows are pretty well produced, available once a week or more and tend to have guests on a lot which may lead to other podcasts/shows. The latter is obviously much better for fantasy advice/tips etc.

I have listened or watch a few other shows over the years but haven't really got time for more and tend to be on-and-off with both podcasts.
