NFL 2021 Season

I did think the Commanders should have gone for the extra 2pt conversion at the end but I get it's very risky.
Yeah, I was praying we would go for 2 pts. There's no doubt the Eagles are a better team, so you need to try and steal a win when the opportunity arises.

Zac Wilson also had a great game, until he muffed the snap.

Yeah, despite the final result, the Eagles Commanders game was amazing. It's very sad that I was just happy not to be embarrassed by the Eagles. That's the state I'm in these days... happy with not being terrible...

Yeah, once again Fields didn't look too bad, but to be honest, we gifted him/them 14 to 17 points. I honestly don't understand how a pro defence can leave someone so open on a fairly simple flag route... twice! It's a little embarrassing.

The atmosphere was fantastic
I only saw the last third or so on TV, but the crowd sounded fantastic.
the Spurs stadium is awesome.
This is the only reason I wonder if I should go and see some UK games again. On the whole, I've never been impressed by a stadium in the UK, perhaps having been spoilt by the ones I've been to in the US.

You can interpret holding and hits but lining up offside, illegal formations and shifts have to be called every time.
Yeah, I guess this is my issue though. I could probably find you 10+ plays a game where a DE is lined up in the neutral zone and they don't bother flagging it. I believe they have been told to tighten up on it this year.

Well, some interesting games today in the early window!

The Eagles loss is brutal. I can't believe Tyrod missing that 2 pointer. He's going to be thinking about that one for a while. Miami's been made to look a little silly. Chicago are looking, well, average, but that's an improvement on the start of the season, right? Then with the 1st overall coming up. Good times ahead maybe?

It's an odd evening of football. Seven games in the late window and probably the ones I would rather see. Usually go to be around half time of the second games... don't know if I'll be able to stay awake though this week!

With regards to the MVP discussion, I know Purdy has set some 49ers records this year, which is kind of impressive, but when I watch him play, I can't help but think you could probably slot in a few different QB's and the 49ers wouldn't really miss a step. Switch out Lamar and I think the Ravens are a very different team.

Put some of the better pocket passers behind Lamar's OL and you also get more production
I personally disagree.
Allen would be seriously good on that team.
That's not a great argument though really. "Put one of the best QB's in the league in his place and..." well, yeah... :p

I guess, swap them and how would it go? (Purdy and Lamar)

Lamar definitely brings a different element to the game than Purdy
I think this is my point on the MVP front, with emphasis on the V. I'm just watching the Bills and Chiefs and clearly Allen and Mahomes are in a top tier where they're doing things only a few QB's can do (like Lamar) that make them so valuable to their teams. I just don't think I've seen that from Purdy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Purdy isn't good, or isn't valuable, I just don't think he has that extra element. I don't imagine he poses a D Co-ordinator the headaches some of the others do.

I think the comparison would be what did Allen, Lamar etc. look like after 1 and a half seasons. Maybe Purdy doesn't end up in that bracket
Yeah, and tbh we're probably comparing him to the wrong 'type' of QB. Mahommes, Allen, Lamar... Favre... maybe Rodgers, fit the 'make something happen' type. (Some of what Allen did last night was kinda ridiculous tbh) Maybe Purdey is closer to Brady, Manning, Montana, Marino?

On the flip side, the Lamar performance after all the **** Purdy has eaten was rather funny. Coaching was a massive part of their loss but Lamar just doesn't get it done in a traditional manner and why on the previous page I suggested he would 100% make the Niners a worse team and the evidence still points to that.
Purdy has been very ropey but his ability to stand in the pocket and deliver big passes while taking a hit multiple times a game is huge, would be nice to see him behind something like that Ravens OL
Tbf, from what I've seen he's better than that and just had a bad game. It's a little like judging Purdy on the game where he threw 5 picks and claiming he's the worst QB in the league. Most QB's have a bad game now and then.

But he is terrible in nearly every playoff game on repeat now
I don't disagree he's not reliable, although he played reasonably well the week before.
This is the 2x MVP we are talking about
There is no way Baltimore did what they did this season with a different QB. That's why.

Don't get me wrong, he would be a reasonable way down a list of QB's I would take if I was starting a franchise, all I was saying is, you can't judge a QB from one game.

I thought it was a well-balanced, defensive game. As a neutral, I don't feel one team got more 'luck' than the other, but it might depend on what you call luck when it comes to fumbles, botched punt returns and penalties etc.

Was this the first time we've had Overtime with 'both teams will have the chance to possess the ball'?
