NHS=Negligent Health Service

DUH!!! She is an MP and as I said will be seen first. Nothing to do with political party or anything else, it is because she is an MP. The Jewish news is just making mischief, just repeating a story from that well known Tory supporting rag, the Mail.

Ohhhh so you don't like the source because it's Jewish news? Awks. There are plenty of other sources if you like? Although worth noting she said it herself...

In the real world an MP going to an A&E will get seen soonest. Hunt told how he took his daughter to A&E because he could not get a GPs appointment that day. He was Health Secretary at the time.
They should wait the 6 hours like everyone else has to.

I saw a woman in agony the last time I was there, she was leaning against a wall holding her side and got told off for making too much noise

I agree they should wait like everone else. Personally I would make them wait until everyone else has been seen to so they get an idea of the state they have brought the NHS in this country.

I am currently on a course of antibiotics for a water infection. Never had one before, and I don't ever want one again. Having delirium as one of the symptoms is not a pleasant experience.

True story
Just before my Mum died in 2019 she had a water infection and she saw me having sex with the old woman in the opposite bed :)
My sister said she was having a right go about me so expect a bit of trouble when I got there.
When I got to her she was moaning about a man staring at her but it was the hand sanitizer on the wall :)
I ended up taking it to her and she said "I know what it is but it turns into a staring man over there and I want him gone".

I recently spent a couple of days in Hospital, and I have nothing but praise for the staff. They really do deserve every penny they get imo.

It is pretty terrifying how fast it can come on and the effects.

I'm fairly sure when my dad went in a few months back for a water infection (his HR was 180 and he couldn't stand which is why he was blue lighted*), he was mildly delirious for at least a couple of days as he kept thinking the old guy in the bed opposite was two children, and was convinced someone had died and the nurses were keeping it quiet and kept complaining about the wailing of women outside (that took me a while to realise it was the wind he was barely hearing).

With my mum it was babies in the back garden, some strange woman trying to steal her teeth whilst she was sleeping, and the roof and window were letting in water and she was drowning.

*He went from normal to a bit wobbly on his feet, to obviously very ill in about 12 hours.

According to my Sister, I tried to get into bed with another patient, after coming back from the toilet. I literally have no recollection of it happening.

I was talking at a very fast pace, but struggling to get my words out at the same time. Sounded a bit like Norman Collier and His faulty microphone routine.

I also went very unstable on my feet, which is quite scary.

The antibiotics will hopefully shift it, and I am thankful that I didn't end up in a Psychiatric ward.

When NHS make dates for surgery, do they acknowledge dates that patients cannot make?

Last month I had a biopsy done and its a BCC (Basel Cell Carcinoma) and want to do remove more. Gave them the dates when I'm on holiday.

Got letter today and guess what? Its when I'm on holiday. The department is a PITA to contact as hardly answer the phones, don't respond to voicemails - I don't leave them anymore due to countless times of leaving messages and they don't respond. This is not just the department in question but others I am under or used to be under.

Not a surgeon but no i don't think there's anything sensible like that in most hospitals. Surgeon puts you on a waitlist, dates get offered out as the list is worked through, if you can't do that date you have to rearrange.

You have to decide what's more important, your health or a holiday?

Ok it took me about 30 mins this morning to ring to speak to someone. The four numbers on the letter constant ringing tone - do they have a phone attached to these lines? Googled the department and got more numbers.

"Oh you need to ring (number on letter)"
"I'm just tried these for 25 mins and no-one is answering"
"Have you tried the booking number?"
"No I haven't. Will do so"

Ring the booking number
"I'm sorry we can't change dates for minor ops for that department"
"Okayyyyy"

Ring the first number which I spoke to someone
"I have tried to ring the numbers on letter and no one is answering and booking dept don't deal with minor ops in this department"
"Oh I never knew that. Sorry about that. When are you back from your holidays?"
"I am available after 14th Oct"
"I will get a new date arranged for you - letter in the post"

Until 2 years ago, you could book the next appointment or minor op on checking out. This was great as you could book an appointment when you had no other plans, apart from work.

What's the issue? you don't go on holiday and you keep the appointment. End of.

Got a new date in Nov.

I empathise with you, chances are you could throw your expensive holiday away, get to the hospital to be told it's not happening.
Last year there was a TV series called Saving Lives In Leeds and right now on TV a series called Saving Lives in Cardiff, it is a gob smacking eye opener of what Surgeons and the rest of their teams go through every morning.
I personally know two people who gave up their holidays to have this happen to them.

A chap I know fell over drunk last Saturday walking home from a party...he's was found 7am then next morning by a dog walker having fallen over and hit his head and passed out. Fractures eye socket, bleed behind his eye and a bleed on the brain. Unable to speak for two days, barely awake for more 3 minutes every few hours and generally in a very bad way.
Had an update from his brother last night that despite a high level consultant fighting for him to remain in hospital, he was discharged Friday (6 days later) with nobody at his own house to look after him, still unable to stay awake and suffering life altering brain damage having failed every cognitive test he's taken because they need his bed!

Lawsuit waiting to happen if those are the facts - the number of times there are subsequent injuries, potentially fatal, due to stuff like that I'm surprised.
