*** Nintendo Switch ***

From that review:
"To the eye, Switch OLED appears brighter, but the measurement it returned was around 343 nits, actually slightly less bright than the LCD on the 2019 model."

So this is significantly worse in outdoor scenarios (particularly when combined with a highly reflective screen) but significantly better in dark rooms. Just as the panel specs showed to be the case months ago.

Never doubted it myself. It's a non issue though as I never ever take it out the house. The furthest it will get is a plane next April.

Nice. The DF review was positive. The panel looks absolutely gorgeous and the slightly lower level brightness is not an issue for me.

The only thing I was surprised that the DF review didn't touch on at all was battery life. Which is weird. I know that battery life on OLED displays will depend upon how much of the display is needing to be lit. But there have been reports that compared to V2 Switch, the OLED gets around 45mins more playtime in Breath of the Wild. Would have been nice to get some confirmation on run times in a typical sanario / game.

The Switch library is now so mature, there's literally something for everyone, such a good time to hop on the platform. This upcoming model is the ultimate portable console ever. I do love a handheld! Tbh I play my switch more than my PS5, it's that pick up and put down accessibility, anywhere!

Debating now if I should cancel my order. My original Switch always stays docked and I carry my Switch Lite when I'm out and about......

I need them to have a game pass service on the console, or for MS to make a portable XBO.

A game pass service would be great. They will have some fresh competition with Steam Deck. Hopefully it'll stick a much needed rocket up Nintendo (I'm still stunned that it took them this long to enable bluetooth audio, but hey). They've not had much competition since... well never, really. The Vita didn't do well and Sony abandoned it mid life. Steam Deck should place some nice pressure on Nintendo to push forward.

I'm very tempted to sell my Switch and Lite and get the OLED

I would say do it. The screen on the Lite isn't very good IMO. Whilst you get the higher pixel density, I am always left disappointed by it in terms of contrast and colour, it looks poor in comparison. I stopped playing my Lite ever since I got a V2. Way better battery life, also.

They know they got folks that will throw money at them *looking at us*.

Ah yeah, the emulators. Speaking of which, I don't fancy running them at pixel perfect setting on the OLED model for too long.

I didn't buy any released between the launch model and this one ;)

That reminds me, I'll need to apply all of my mods again on the new joy cons to prevent drift, wobbling in the rails, and the catches wearing down.

Edit: You won't have to worry about burn in as the screen is really quite dim for an OLED.

Busted!

What mods do you apply? Looks like rail wobble is less out the box on this model.

I replace the plastic catches with metal ones, change the analog sticks immediately for £3 replacements that never drift, and bend the rails on the tablet part.

Edit: I forgot to order the screen protector, just added that to my amazon order.

Cool, I've never done any physical mods before on any of mine. May need to look at that!
