*** Nintendo Switch ***

I've got a Switch Lite, but when I charge it up and play for a bit, I'll likely put it down for a day or two, but when I come back to it, the battery has a pretty significant drain, and I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I always go into settings and select power off. Is there some other setting I need?

A lite should last about a week or more in standby. Battery charge levels and power management are controlled by a combination of two chips working together namely the fuel gauge and a chip called BQ. id be interested to know if it sleeps properly... half the time you see this on consoles that don't want to enter sleep state properly. To check you can turn off sleep in the settings and manually sleep the console by pressing the power button just once. leave it for a day or so and see what your charge levels are like. If it drains on manual sleep as well then its likely either a dodgey battery or something related to a failure in the BMS systems.

Another way to check is to set it to sleep auto after one minute, when it sleeps does the following happen:

1) backlight and lcd panel turn off fully... shine a flash light into the panel to check as ive seen consoles where the backlight sleeps but the lcd refuses to.
2) hold the console to your ear is the fan still spinning?

There are some other software based resets you can do but 9 times out of 10 this is caused by the switch or some part of the switch refusing to hit standby.

Mario Kart won't come for at least 6 months as there is still 2 more waves of DLC to drop.

It won't come out until the next gen of Nintendo consoles. They are still shifting loads of copies of MK8 deluxe. Same for Metroid 4 and probably the next main 3d mario game.

Traded some older games and ended up with Pokemon Violet today. It's quite remarkable how incapable Game Freak are at making a polished, well made game. It's a slight step up from 3ds graphics, runs awfully, has visual bugs/glitches frequently, and everything just feels low-rate. Probably should have got Arceus instead, but thought it might be better to try the latest.

Do not get the latest Pokemon game. Definitely fine for kids who won't care much, but it's a poorly running eyesore, and eats battery like it's going out of fashion.

Edit: Easily the strongest my fan has ever ran. All whilst looking like this. :'D

That matches what the reviews started

Pokemon Violet/Scarlet are a nightmare, and frustratingly the issues seem to be worse for some than others, which just screams sloppy coding given the hardware is ALMOST identical across the models. The series has amazing potential, but I'm really starting to think Nintendo should either get stricter with Game Freak, or threaten to move it to another studio altogether (as I'm sure there are other studios first, second or third party, who could do an amazing job with Pokemon, even if they kept it functionally and visually identical, but just made sure to actually do a better job of implementation and the technical side). If Witcher 3 could run fairly well, within caveats, then it boggles me how Pokemon cannot.

So many issues with low framerate, terrible distance graphics, pop in, random glitches, and also, another thing that jumped out at me, is the copy pasta, especially in the first main city. Like literally every other shop facing is essentially the same copy pasta cafe. It is REALLY bad and noticeable, and no other pokemon city I remember has been SO cut and paste, cities usually had variety and character, I was so dissapointed by that, it feels like it was built, but the actual 'contents' of the city buildings were thrown together in one afternoon Literally just copy pasted every door in the city that's accessible to a very small selection of actual menus, not even walk in shops ala Sword/Shield in most cases. It is utterly terrible, and I do not KNOW how Gamefreak thought they could release it in this state and not get backlash.

I have put the game down, and refuse to touch it until it's had a few more patches, which given even Nintendo have acknowledged there are issues (and they aren't the devs) means we will hopefully see some substantial patching in coming months and JUST MAYBE, if Gamefreak continues to be the mainline developer, they hire more staff and maybe delay the release cycle somewhat to actually allow them to finish the games than push them out in roughly the state of completion of a Bethesda title :D

Arceus had some rough edges, so did Sword and Shield, but Pokemon Violet and Scarlet, are just a whole extra level of jank and unfinished, and it REALLY shows. The game really needed another 6-12 months in the oven, and that is IGNORING the progress that Arceus made with the formula that Violet and Scarlet completely ignore. Absolute wasted potential, honestly.

I don't think Nintendo can really do anything. I mean they could start issuing eShop refunds and stop future sales until fixed, but that would be effective and probably get the issue resolved, so they'll never do it.

Honestly, I don't think too highly of Nintendo these days. Look at what they deem acceptable on the soccer, tennis and golf games. They've made serious bank, and don't care. Far better to stick to making copyright claims against YouTubers, than doing anything right.

I should have hacked my Switch, but the convenience of just having a working system is what I prefer.

Doesn’t Nintendo own game freak?

This just seems to be another one of those rushed releases to meet an arbitrary deadline set by executive level management to add to the pile.
