*** Nintendo Switch ***

Used my remaining game voucher to pre order TOTK. Excited for this game although I don’t think it will move things along far from BOTW.

My bad. I read some hysterical Twitter comments that it had sold out.

It can’t be…I know my eye sight is bad but I can’t even see the normal edition on the Nintendo store page nevermind the LTD one?

I checked the store the second it was announced and then the site crashed for hours afterwards.

I'm probably going to get shunned for this but I've only ever played two Zelda games - BOTW and Hyrule Warriors, if you can count that as a Zelda game.

I was looking at picking up some of the older games and was wondering what one are the go-to ones and where to pick them up a bit cheaper?

I don't always watch these Nintendo Direct presentations but did last night. A number of things to look forward too for me; Metroid Prime Remastered, GB, GBC & GBA updates to NSO/Exp. Pack, Advance Wars 1+2, Ghost Trick HD (although coming to PS, Xbox & PC) & Zelda.

All I'm really missing from Switch is the two Wii U HD Zelda's to be ported over. Also its quite interesting reading about all the Switch 2 speculation. I do wonder if it'll really be along as early as some seem to think.

If you have Nintendo online, you can play all the early games for nothing.

NES -The Legend of Zelda and Zelda 2
Gameboy - Links Awakening DX, there is also a remake available to buy on Switch.
SNES - A link to the Past
If you have the expansion pass you'll be able to play The N64 games Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask.

Also on Switch you can get Skyward Sword HD, which originally came out on Wii.the rest you would have to source elsewhere. Though they can be pricey.

Very keen to play Metroid Prime again! I'll hold out and get the physical version because I'm a sucker for another red sleeve to sit on my shelf gathering dust :p

I've not watched the direct yet but I will later, sounds like it was a good one overall.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are the two to start with - both are available via NSO with the expansion pass. Personally, I prefer Majora's Mask, but Ocarina is more accessible.

Wind Waker is also an absolutely beautiful game, and available in an HD version on the Switch.

Link to the Past (SNES) is probably the best of the "classic" 2D Zeldas to start with, unless you want to go really far back, although I expect that the new Link's Awakening on the Switch is also very good.

If you want to invest time and play through a few of them, I'd go:
1. Link to the Past
2. Ocarina of Time
3. Majora's Mask
4. Wind Waker
5. New Link's Awakening

If you'd prefer to short-circuit it, start with Ocarina. It's one of the best games ever.

Edit: turns out I was wrong, there isn't yet a Wind Waker Switch port

Gonna get slated but not feeling totk.

6 years in the making with same engine. Recycled graphics, same enemy characters, looks like an expansion pack.

The flip is up with these vehicles, going a bit too far now. Guessing no dungeons? They're charging $70!?

Saying that, is it a prequel?

I'm guessing the game will be longer and bigger. They won't just have reused stuff. They will likely have got the engine and game to run better on the hardware now.

I'm kind of the same but I trust Nintendo to have knocked it out of the park. I have been saying much of the above for years but logically speaking they must have put a huge amount of time and effort into the sequel purely from a time perspective and how well received the first was. They won't want to tarnish that.

Looks great from what I have seen. Each to their own.

Need to play through the first one again it’s been years since I played it.
