*** Nintendo Switch ***

Virgin Trains have sockets in all of their trains. Older ones just have them at the tables. Newer ones have them for every seat. Same goes for Virgin East Coast, Cross Country and London Midland IIRC. I guess southern providers just suck.

I'll be getting a Switch I think. I'll see how things are looking by Christmas. A price drop and games coming down to more normal prices wouldn't hurt. I really like the idea, it's just the prices, lack of games, and knowing the online and OS will be a disappointment that are putting me off buying one at launch.

I'd be much happier with the Switch is if was an all-in-one entertainment device capable of replacing my tablet. Instead, it's another device to carry, along with the tablet, ebook reader and mobile phone.

The original 3ds was released 5 years ago so it isn't much of a surprise they might drop support for it. Odd they made the effort to refresh it last year when they knew the switch would basically replace it within 12 months.

I am not worried about the battery, because as a home console that is not a problem.

In the car - I can charge it.
On the train - I can use my battery power pack or some trains has plugs
On the plane - they all have USB sockets
In coffee shops - I hope i don't spend 3 hours in there!

Then there are always battery banks you can carry.

People carry battery banks with them??

I picked mine up towards the end of its life for £170.

I'd say that was midway through its life really. It hasn't been that cheap for quite sometime.

So what version is everyone picking up?

I pre-ordered at Game (in store) the day after the trailer so got defaulted into the grey one going from the email I received, but have since been told that I can get it changed to the neon version so will be doing that this afternoon.

So neon for me - wasn't too sure on them at first but all the videos I've seen regarding the Switch, they have definitely grown on me.

Finally got Portugal listing price. €330. So that is £290 at the current exchange rate. Not bad.

Games are being listed as €60. So £52 once converted.

Seriously thinking about flipping my pre-order on Ebay depending on availability and what they end up going for. I'm not that bothered about Zelda and can wait until April for MK8 really.

as someone who loved nintendo (nes, snes, n64) they haven't really made a decent console since. The wii was ok, but I was never as much of a fan as I was with the original three. Tried the wii u for six months and ended up selling it, as I did with the gamecube.

Please stop with the "we're trying to offer something different" and release a normal console with decent specs and decent games. No frills, just a games console (and no mii characters!!).

I know it's hard to topple ps4 and xbox but a gpu able to do 1440p 60fps with pixel upscaling to 4k along with a massive hdd should be doable in 2017 for £400, slap on mario, mario kart, zelda, donkey kong and you've hit a home run. I'd go one further and say don't even spend time on a UI for the operating system. Just have a nintendo logo saying load game and be done with it. Dedicate as much resources to the games as possible.

I've pre-ordered one though lol but what's going to happen if this is another flop?

I'm curious as to how many regular posters in this thread are going to buy the console. Hmmmm

A lot of people who have a PS4/Xbone will be interested in this console for exclusives but due to its lack of third party support gamers will generally already have a Xbone/PS4 or a gaming PC. I've not really been 'pro' Nintendo for many years now but i own a NES, N64, Gamecube, Gameboy, Gameboy Colo(u?)r, DS, GBA/SP and a 3DS.

I'm with you there. They've made some good games since, but they were the last good home consoles. The no. of decent first party titles per console has dwindled too. I get it when people say they just want a Nintendo console to play Nintendo games, but these days we're getting so few, and usually taken from the same small no. of IPs when they have such a large no. to choose from. And new stuff - haven't seen that for a looooong time. If they can't give us 3rd party support they need to do the work themselves, and that means games. Lots of games and lots of variety ...

While I agree that most buying it will already have a Xbox/PS4, not quite sure about it not having third party support when we've seen who is developing for it and the schedule of releases throughout the year clearly showing the Switch will get third party support.

when you factor in mario and zelda are £59.99 each with the rehashed mario kart at £49.99, only the die hard fanboys are going to pick this up.

Not really, I have no idea (other than festivals really) as to why someone would need to carry round a battery pack for a phone/tablet in day to day life.

It depends on your lifestyle and needs. If you're a ridiculously heavy phone user and on the go ALL the time then you have a need for a battery pack to recharge whilst you're on the move. Or if you depend on your tablet for business and on and the move so cannot risk letting it die. Then you get a battery pack, for example.

I know quite a few people that have them. I have contemplated getting one but decided that ultimately, I did not need one. Although I am on the move quite a lot.

See I consider myself a "gamer" but because I have a huge interest in gaming and have lost many hours of my life to it. Currently I don't own a console or a gaming PC and rarely get time to sit down and game. I'll be buying the Switch, because (and I really feel like this is applicable to every console and person) it suits my needs and wants.

If I wanted a console for playing the big AAA titles online with a load of randoms I'd have an XBO or PS4 (as I have done in the past) - right now I have a big want of local multiplayer. My fiance and I also travel a lot, so something to use together on the go would be great.

I am not including Nintendo exclusives in this (despite it being something I want) as it just cancels out the rest of the argument.

Because of this the Switch is great for me.

People need to focus on that rather than getting so hooked up on whether or not it has the latest and greatest specs, IMO.
