That screws me as all my games are physical. There does seem to be some suggestion that backwards compatibility may only extend to digital games, not physical carts which would be a shame

I thought one of the reasons they stuck with Nvidia was because of BC? Physical of course. There does seem to be some suggestion that backwards compatibility may only extend to digital games, not physical carts which would be a shame
I think they buy keys in regions where they are cheaper.i've been buying most of my games physical so would be a blow if it was digital only backward compatibility.
we're all stuffed when they decide to retire physical, they'll charge what they like.
i've just bought Zelda tears of the kingdom for £35 on ebay. £60 on the nintendo store
i guess the only hope would be the rise of stores like CDkeys, i'm not sure how they operate though and how they get their discounts. do they buy so many keys from nintendo with the hope of shifting enough (at a reduced price) to make a profit?
Do you have a link for that ? The only thing officially confirmed ( from Nintendo business/investor call ) is that there will be backwards compatibility. The specifics of what that means hasn't been released. There does seem to be some suggestion that backwards compatibility may only extend to digital games, not physical carts which would be a shame

I'll also await this reply as I've always wanted to play these but never got around to it.Which of the Fire Emblem games should I play first on the Switch?
Fire Emblem : Three Houses is the best one, imo and a strong runner for my favourite game on the Switch. Engage arguably has the better combat, but the story/characterisation is weaker. Both games are lengthy, particularly Three Houses, which has multiple paths/endings.Which of the Fire Emblem games should I play first on the Switch?
Sure, the Lego games are always a fun time. Kind of waiting to see how it runs first though.Anyone thinking about buying Lego Horizon Adventure on the Switch, coming out Thursday 14th?
Better half loved the two Horizon games on the pc, but the Lego HA minimum spec is higher than our ancient i5-6600 (gpu ok as RX580).
Fair enough. Enjoy ! Be warned though, it's a Musou style game. In contrast, the mainline FE games are all tactical role playing games. If you like the Musou genre then you may want to look at Fire Emblem: Three Hopes - it's better than Warriors but I would recommend playing FE: Three Houses first as it ties into that story/characters.I ended up getting Fire Emblem Warriors as it was cheap. I'll probably get Hyrule Warriors next and then one of the main Fire Emblem games.
I'll keep mine. This is the first console I've had where I've actually been in a position to buy a lot of games and have actively gone for physical. The collector part of me is happy keeping them even if they're locked to S1, though I'd hope to be able to do something with them on S2. Even if that's to somehow register them to my account and get a digital BC version. Can't see that working though as they're aren't keys and can be sold on.So if it turns out there's no physical BC, will any of you lot sell your collection or still keep them?
I agree with you. I'll likely keep mine but I'd love to see if there was a way of converting physical to a digital download with something like proof of ownership on the original Switch that can then be downloaded on the Switch 2.I'll keep mine. No what people seem to be claiming is that it will be digital only BC and the carts won't be. Wh ch is silly I'm sure it will be carts too.Nintendo would have to be absolute muppets not to support backwards compatibility for their existing library. I don't know where the rumours it won't be are coming from. This is only one site but I'm sure it's legitimate.
Nintendo Switch 2 won't make you say goodbye to your old games
Those who invested heavily in the Nintendo Switch will be pleased about this seemingly confirmed Switch 2 featurewww.theshortcut.com
