*** Nintendo Switch ***

But as I said before, the USB ports on planes are normally 1A or it was on my last long haul with emirates. A decent charging block will do 2A. You'll be lucky to charge and play on 1A.

Unless I'm wrong, but my phone wasn't charging very fast on them.

On the last few Emirates flights I've taken I've seen a variation between 1A USB, 2A USB, and a mains socket.

Think it depends on how new the plane is you're going to be on :p

on 1A I wonder if maybe it'll be able to not charge whilst playing but extend the life for hours and hours as it'll only lose charge very very slowly.

Oh I never noticed a mains charger, just noticed the USB socket. Plugged it in, and phone just laughed at me.

It was a newer A380, so thought it would be top spec. But possibly not to be fair.

A mains charger is good enough. But then carrying a charging block around when you most likely have a bag isn't a chore anyway.

I've been on a couple of A380s. One had a USB port, the other had a mains plug & a USB.

Depends on the revision etc...newers ones have the nicer kit :D

Not just the type of plane or age, mostly depends on the original kit list for the plane, lots of different options when specing a plane.

The A380-800 had both USB and a mains. The Boeing 787 had a similar spec, but was older/lower tech than the A380. Probably the plane was manufactured many years earlier.

I'd love to know what Nintendo puts in the water, because their presidents all seem to be crazy.

Well the Wii had free online multiplayer, a pack-in game and a very affordable/competitive price-point, not to mention Nintendo backed it up with support (it was backwards compatible so Gamecube releases didn't hurt it much at all).

Not to mention the number 1 that it appealed to a wider audience of casuals and such. Whereas the Switch has even the fans divided and a lot of negativity regarding various aspects from unbiased reporters like Eurogamer and news sites.

I find it very hard to get excited about the console as the launch lineup is only so-so.

I'll enjoy playing Zelda though.

Yeah, my hype has simmered down a bit since the Nintendo reveal and I think it is mainly because of this. Only thing of (big) interest on release is Zelda. As much as I miss it, I cannot really get hyped about my MK8D pre-order as I did have that on the Wii U for ages. Then there is a big long wait for Mario Odyssey. The titles released in-between I need to see reviews before buying, so no hype there either.

If I get a new job (which is looking good) I know what I'll be treating myself too much sooner than I thought originally :)

And then after Mario? That's my bigger concern. After waiting so long for Zelda on the WiiU, i'm not really hyped for it. The 3D Mario I wanted, Metroid and a bunch of others never turned up either! My main issue with Nintendo these days is having little faith they will deliver on first party games. It used to be a given. Sometimes with a long wait, but a given. Not so much in recent times.

Odyssey does look like it has oodles or promise tho! That's what i'm waiting for.

You saying that Warbie makes me think they knew the Wii-U had flopped so were abandoning it early on by not releasing big hitters like Metroid and the like. If this picks up, you can bet we'll see the classics and new IPs as well :)

You're probably right in that. It's almost certainly why Zelda was delayed for so long and become primarily a Switch game. I'd like the Switch to be a massive success btw - just show me some games, Nintendo!

Over 100+ in dev confirmed now. Nintendo are taking the drip feeding approach when it comes to the big stuff (Zelda, Mario etc) then you've got 3rd parties and ports filling the gaps.

I like the approach. I can see why they're doing it. Maybe have a more structured release gap but hey, we know what games are coming with way more in the loop, I'm not complaining :p

After Nintendo announced that Wii U production has stopped worldwide this week, its a clear sign Nintendo gave up on the Wii U 2 years ago. Even the 3DS has a longer life span than the Wii U now and was released well before.

The 3DS will continue until Pokemon will come to the Switch. And Monster Hunters etc.

Agree, I think they would have pulled Zelda if they could have, I don't doubt they have a number of Wii U planned titles ready to announce as the year progresses to keep the hype up.

I am hoping there will be many good games for the Switch in 2018 :)

At least for the 10 months in 2017 I have 3 guaranteed games I will be purchasing, plus maybe a couple more if I like what I see in reviews/games that need to be priced correctly like Street Fighter II. That will be good enough for me.

But they better delivery in 2018 as they will have had arguably as far back as 2015 to be developing games for the Switch or stuff that was meant for Wii U but now is for the Switch!

Ended up cancelling my pre-order, just not overly convinced i'd use it much, and not much confidence in Nintendo getting a lot of third party titles regardless of the pre-release spiel.
