Taken from GAF:

The conclusion of the EDGE review:

" The result, for all the longevity of its series and the familiarity of the open world genre, is a game that evokes feelings we haven't felt for 20 years. Not since Ocarina of Time have we set foot in a world that feels so mind-bogglingly vast and unerringly magical, that proves so relentlessly intriguing. Plenty of games promise to let us go anywhere and do anything. Few, if any, ever deliver so irresistibly. 19 years on Ocarina is still held up as the high water mark of gamings best loved and greatest series. Now it may have to settle for second place".

Gulp.

Gulp indeed! Could not help it and read that. This will definitely help sell the Switch. I cannot wait until Friday :D

Reports on NeoGaf say the Wii U version suffers from some bad framerate at times, though I don't know if there is a day 1 patch to sort performance out.

Edge Magazine have given BotW a 10. It's going to be a long 6 days!

Right, so Nintendo have paid Edge Magazine to give the game a 10/10. Well of course I don't know that this is the case, but sorry, no game gets a 10/10. And I never take much notice of ratings from mass media outlets anyway, neither for game or movie reviews. I wonder how many people will be thinking "shoot, why do I keep wasting money" by the end of next weekend?

It is "Very" likely you will not get yours on Friday however :p

Just kidding ;)

Haha, yes it's definitely in the back of my mind. No biggie if it doesn't rock up, although it's coming direct from Nintendo I believe so i'm quietly confident.

Or, maybe it's that good?

Someone sounds salty.

Review scores aside I'm still going in with no expectations. All I know is what I've seen in the trailer, it's open world and edge has scored it 10/10.

Who am i you ask? Are you really gonna use a switch outdoors just to browse online or watch a movie? When you have a smartphone or a tablet that just does that?

They might even add that feature in at a later date. But right now nintendo wants you to play the switch the way it was suppose to.

What way do nintendo want you to use it?? They include a dock, therefore expect you to use it on your TV. In that case not gonna be using it outside to browse or watch a movie, but will have it hooked up to a 50inch TV and think 'i'll watch some netflix, oh wait...'

If it was purely a handheld i wouldn't care about media playback like i don't on my 3ds or vita, but as it is a home console then i do think not having media apps is a bit of a shot in the foot.

Have you read the previews? They're all gushing over the game

Hmm ok? I mean I was only letting people know what score Edge have gave the game. I not saying they are right or wrong really. But looking at all the previews and this review, it seems it might actually be good.

Thing is, it adds needless bloat to a console and i've never once used such apps on my XBox because the TV already has them all in. If you have a TV that doesn't, Amazon and the like will sell you a dongle that does it all and potentially more for £30. The dream of an 'all in one' media centre device has never really materialised for me. The only thing my XBox gets used for beyond playing XBox games is as a BluRay player. I've not even considered seeing if it can do Netflix or YouTube or whatever else.

The number of people who would dismiss a console because it can't do Netflix etc. must be quite small i'd have thought.

I use my PS4 for netflix, sky go and amazon video all the time?? It's not a vast amount of bloat at all, they are rather small install files, and if netflix is that much bloat, maybe they should include more than 32Gb of storage space. As someone said before, there were people up in arms about switcing off iPlayer on the Wii.

Some people might, kids bedroom you get a console that can do everything or one that just plays games. If people aren't big on games, they might look and say 'nah get one with netflix available'. Again it just shows the short sightedness of Nintendo tbh.

I'd just say now that a grown man needs to be careful about playing Mario and Zelda games whilst out in public. It's going to startle quite a few people to see a man in his 30's or 40's (or even 20's) playing these games, especially females accompanied by their young children. Just saying.
