*** Nintendo Switch ***

Its more that when removed from the dock and in handheld mod the CPU speed is lowered as is the resolution to use less battery power. Rather than boosting it in docked mode.

Yeah thats what I mean, its pretty standard on these things to throttle the cpu/gpu in order to get a better battery life. I was just under the impression that the dock actually had more than a PSU and video passthrough to it.

There were rumours floating round that in future Nintendo may offer a dock that has more power in it.

How would that work if the innards are in the handheld itself? I thought the dock was no different than say a laptop dock in terms of functionality

That's the way I see it.

I think the dock might well stay the same and they'll offer a new tablet in future which is the same size but with upgraded internals so the joy-cons, dock, etc. are still compatible.

That is how it works (the switch) but there is a growing hardware market for external GPUs that you can hook up to your laptop etc to give it a desktop grade GPU by plugging in a thunderbolt 2/3 cable while at home while maintaining the portability of a laptop when you are on the go.

(Genuine question).
It is fair to say that Zelda is a triple A title from all the reviews etc and if it is better than OoT like Edge suggests, then this will surely cement its place as a classic.
So my question.. in the history of videogames consoles, how many "classics" were released alongside a day 1 release console?

It is slightly misleading since it is a game which has been in development for 4 years for the console that came out before it, and is being released on that console too.

I said they should do this a while back or even let you hook up your own GPU to it like the razor core.

They'll never do that. If they do, imagine how much that would cost? The price of the accessories is mental enough without a powerful dock!

I assume that is simply giving the handheld bit some more juice as opposed to the base station actually adding to the precessing power directly. That was the impression I got from early stuff about the switch. Sort of an egpu-esque solution.

Correct. The dock only provides additional cooling and the ability to have the screen off (aiding temperatures) which allows higher GPU clocks.

No, the CPU frequency never changes.

I'd love it if they made an external GPU that when docked really improved the graphics. I have a feeling though that I'll be blown away by the Switch in Handheld mode as it appears to be such a well made, well engineered piece of kit. Looking at the insides it looks really nice.

Got my girlfriend Ape Escape 2 on the PS4 so she can play that while I play Zelda on the old hand held :D

On 12Switch do you have to be in front of the TV? I don't have much room in my room and was wondering how exactly it worked?

Thanks

1-2 Switch is designed NOT to be on the tv. You leave on the kickstand near the play area and it tells you what to do, show winner etc

No worries :)

Incidentally the carrycase at Very was £16.99, does this seem like the going price or can it be had elsewhere for cheaper? Quick Google seems to reveal same price all around but would appreciate comments if otherwise!

All done. Paid with Paypal £34.99 :D

Let us hope they do not cancel. This is even cheaper than Kreee's one :p

My total cost for Nintendo Switch + Zelda + Pro Controller = £353 :D
