*** Nintendo Switch ***

I loooove this console. Played on the toilet already, that was fun. Bomberman is good but not worth the money. I have never played Shovel Knight so just downloaded this and have never played Metal Slug 3 so getting that too. I didn't know they had Neo Geo games so that was a nice surprise.

Completely agree, played a few hours of Zelda hooked upto TV, which im completely loving, then just for the hell of it undocked it and went to lay on the bed with it for a bit, seamless and the screen is fantastic. The potential is awesome.

Hearing the major Joyconn issue, I'm glad I'm not planning on buying this anytime soon. Also folks didn't get their pre-orders of stuff today. Whether it was the Switch itself, Zelda Switch version or even Zelda WiiU version. Gee I wonder why that would happen?

*glares at Nintendo*

Edit: Well Nintendo sure are excited about the Switch. I clicked on a video (I think it was about the Switch) and the ad was for a 3DS game...

My left joycon is horrendous. Signal is so weak that even someone walking in front of the TV, between you and the console, causes a disruption even under a distance of 6'.

If it wasn't for the awful left joycon than this would be an awesome package. The hardware otherwise is faultless.

Not had any joy-con issues myself, not saying it doesn't exist but what sort of mentalist tries to play with the controller behind their back? :)

I grabbed one from a nearby Argos along with Zelda on my drive home today, no pre-order just chanced my arm.

Played an hour of Zelda, everything great so far no connection issues with the joy cons sitting about 5m from the console, need to do some work but will get a proper session tonight.

My Switch has arrived and I went all paranoid on it from what everyone has had go on:

  • Insert microSD card and boot up
  • Perform system update
  • Restart manually after system update
  • Power down and turn on manually after system update
  • Factory reset system
  • Go through initial setup again (which prompts you to link a Nintendo Account this time)
  • Format microSD card
  • Update Zelda
  • Play Zelda :D

Nintendo are in separate ways brilliant and irritating :p

The Wii U had some amazing games once playing but a couple of the hardware/firmware delights were:

If you have an external HDD plugged in save data (when the initial save/date file is created) would default to it. This makes disc-based games fun as the drive will go to sleep, you save your game (or it saves automatically), the game has to wait for the drive to wake up, write 1MB of data and carry on. Once the initial save/game data is created you can manually move the data to the internal drive as I did to stop any issues, with any future saves/updates just going on there automatically. But

Browsing the eShop whilst waiting for someone to join me for a Mario Kart 8 session and setting off a large (few GB) demo download. This download was going to an external HDD and Mario Kart 8 loading from a disc/update data from internal memory. It took, literally, 10-15mins for MK8 to load! In the download monitoring page it even suggests to pause downloads if you want to play a game. Just. Pause. Them. For. Me. Automatically!

Still in two minds whether to get this.

I don't own anything more modern now in console form than xbox 360

But I may wait at least for a while. Too many quirks, too high price. Too few games

Breath of the wild really doesn't like running in 900p. Change the TV output to 720p and you get a more jagged image but it runs rock solid. I've played all afternoon at 900p with the framerate drops and it didn't hinder the experience.

I'd advise against a purchase this early unless you're a Nintendo/Zelda nut but I'm very happy with my purchase. Breath of the wild is brilliant.

Swore I wasn't going to get his,, but cracked..lol
Great little machine, no probs at all.
Zelda looks great apart from the odd frame rate hitch, no probs there either
I just hope a good Metroid game comes out, and a few exclusive adult titles?
Fingers crossed it doesn't bomb like the Wii U did.

Has anyone bought Fast RMX yet?

Not sure if £16.99 is worth it but it does look good from the trailer video?

Started Zelda purely on the handheld and it's brilliant - can't wait to play it relaxed on the sofa!

I've just bought it, but its downloading away. my potato internet connection will take a while to download, but will let you know.
