*** Nintendo Switch ***

How hard are these going to be to buy in terms of availability?

I managed to book one for store collection for Tuesday at Argos along with Zelda and a pro controller but have just bought horizon and was thinking of skipping the reservation and buying once I'm done with horizon.

Only got mine at 6pm, delivered from Amazon. Had it set up for about an hour now and I'm extremely sad to report my left joy-con is beyond terrible. The lag is ridiculous at times and then it just disconnects. I'm literally 2 feet away before it re-connects :(

Got my Switch. The frame drops are laughably bad when docked :(
Very weak as a home console, best kept and used as just a portable to avoid disappointment I think :)

If everyone is honest then I think we can all agree that 720p is unacceptable for a home console in 2017, and still Zelda has frame rate issue... Nintendo do it again. Underpowered severely, no idea what their R&D department gets paid for. 720 is acceptable as a handheld, especially one with a classic Zelda game available.

Just to correct you slightly it's not 720p when docked, it's 900p for Zelda and upscaling but games can run at 1080p 60 fps, such as Fast RMX.

As much as I agree with you mate, where is can you play this awesome game that is Zelda, or the other Nintendo games that are coming? I really hope they make a new dock with GPU in it so it can go to 4K in the future.

I'd imagine it has a lot to do with the fact most Japanese households don't own a full HD Tv and space is at a premium. So rather than have a powerful console taking up room and wouldn't even be used to its full potential for their target market they went with a hybrid that is powerful enough as a handheld and alright as a standard console. Frankly their R&D department has nailed the niche imho. It was clear from the announcement what they were doing, if you are looking for a powerful console there are plenty on the market.

As for the launch issues, there have been problems with pretty much every major hardware or software launch for years now. I'm not saying its acceptable, it is just the way the industry is. Products still sell so companies get away with it for the most part and you have to at least be prepared for it.

I have a grey Switch, pro controller and Zelda reserved at Argos in Altrincham until 7pm tomorrow if anyone wants the reservation number?

I saw them first thing this morning and put in a reservation just in case Amazon let me down (they didn't).

I got mine today, I wasn't expecting much from it and pretty much got what I expected.

I've been playing Horizon Zero Dawn this week and when I turned on the Switch it was like stepping back 6 years. Zelda looks OK on the little screen but playing it on the TV just shows how bad the hardware is in this.

If the console released with some deecent games it would be something, but the only game is Zelda and that's available on the Wii U and hardly much of an upgrade. Looking on their store half of it is Neo Geo stuff or other retro/old games. There are hints of good games at the end of 2017 ie Super Mario Odyssey but with the Nintendo track record that could quite easily be 2020 and a launch title for the Switch U 2.

The best experience so far is just using it on the stand with controllers off it, I could possibly get some use out of that on a train/plane etc probably more so than my 3DS/Vita etc.

Unfortunatly I think this will be another Wii U ie a failure. I couldn't honestly recommend anyone buying this at least not until there are some decent (new) games out for it which isn't going to be any time soon.

Hmmm, two specks of dust in the screen of my neon switch. Now out of stock on Amazon so might be waiting a while for a replacement.

Does anyone know if it is possible to backup your Zelda save?

Think I'll get a screen protector. Worried about scratching the screen going into and out of the dock. I read it's not glass either, but plastic.

I have the official case, softer than I expected but good enough protection for home and day to day use and comes bundled with a screen protector. Might be crap though, not tried it yet.

Am a bit surprised about the docking myself, would have thought more padding would have been in order.

That sucks.

At the moment no, all save data goes to the internal memory even if you have an sd card and no way to cloud save, back up or transfer.
