*** Nintendo Switch ***

Ooooo, I was going to pop out and buy it today, but got side tracked at work. I was thinking of buying it tomorrow in town, but hearing the crashing reports, the controller drop out and frame rate issues... I'm a bit put off at such a messy release.

Seems it's now out of stock everywhere!

Controller issue seems hit and miss. Framerate is resolved with an update of the game.

So it seems the controller issue is the main problem affecting some, but not all!

Imagine Nintendo will say something soon once they can see how big of an issue it is. Sounds like a batch of faulty Joy cons to me!

Yea, I hope so to all the above! I'm now just sad most places look like they won't have it in until the end of the month :( Oh well!

Using the pro controller so I can't really say much about the joycons losing connection. They work great in handheld though.

Had to smooth things over with the GF a little, I may have forgot to mention I pre-ordered one ;).. but all is good.

I'm really impressed with this device. Build quality is fantastic, the joycons feel so sturdy when docked! The screen quality on the device is gorgeous, seriously; goodbye 3DS potato screen. This is a total 3DS killer, I can see Nintendo phasing out the 3DS because of this device. 3DS RIP.

Only played an hour of Zelda so far and I can already tell it's something special, I haven't even managed to get to the first way point yet!

Picked up my Legend Of Zelda SE seen as my Switch got cancelled as Amazon don't have stock (Even know i ordered at 9AM when preorders went live yet my friend ordered one in the afternoon and got his today)

So i'm looking to buy from somewhere local but everywhere is out of stock and i refuse to buy from my local game.

As Customer Service is absolutely atrocious, I ordered Horizon Zero dawn for my preorder 3 months ago and it's still yet to arrive and i'm being told i need to wait till the 6th before they can issue me a refund. Hopefully it gets here before then.

Discovered the better half pre-ordered a Switch and Zelda from Amazon, arrived this afternoon. I got bored of the Wii novelty very quickly, bit of Wii Sports and that's about it, never been into Mario, Zelda etc.

Bit shocked to read there is no day one web browser and if I've read correctly, no plans for an official one, which if correct is crazy given the console's portability... It's not much bigger than my Nexus 7 2013 tablet!

Fast RMX is certainly fast haha. Just like a wipeout. Quite arcade like, you get boost fuel, and boost bits you fly through, blue and orange ones, your vehicle has 2... fuel types? (blue and orange) and you have to change to the correct fuel to get the correct amount of boost for jumps ect.

Worth 17?...depends how much you like racers. I don't regret getting it, gonna great for a wee blast about, plus it has online play too!

I'm over the moon with the hardware and with zelda. Beyond this I just want a full library of old games in hand held and then new Mario, splatoon and maybe Arms. Then tbh I'm satisfied.

I'm easily pleased with Nintendo. Lol.

I have to say Zelda looks a lot better on my plasma than LED TV!
Yep, looks very nice on my 1080p Plasma TV also. Don't forget to go manually change from Automatic to Full RGB and 1080P. When I did it, the colours looked nicer for me.

My only minor issue is I do get some dips in fps when near lots of trees or grass. Hardly happens and to be honest it does not even bother me much due to being so infrequent. By the way I did do the update. Maybe a further update will fix in the future, but by then I will probably complete it :p

Yeah I did. Looks quite harsh on the LED TV

I do see the slow down but doesn't bother me either to be honest!

WARNING! - DO NOT BUY NINTENDO SWITCH SKINS !

Recommended video after was about someone with their screen scratched :p. Not taking mine out of the dock until my protector arrives. Shame it's not Gorilla glass. Seems like a no brainer if it's going to be sliding in and out of the dock all the time ...

So Nintendo have posted some official guidance for the situation where the Joycon has intermittent problems.

Nintendo said:
What to Do:
Try these steps:

  1. Ensure your console has the latest system update.
  2. Ensure the Joy-Con controllers are charged. How to
  3. Try to decrease the distance between the Joy-Con and the Nintendo Switch console.
  4. Ensure that the Nintendo Switch console is placed to minimize interference with the Joy-Con. It is best if the Nintendo Switch console is placed out in the open and that it is not:
    • Behind a TV
    • Near an aquarium
    • Placed in or under a metal object
    • Pressed against a large amount of wires and cords
    • Within three to four feet of another wireless device, such as a wireless speaker or a wireless access point.
  5. Check for possible sources of interference and turn them off. Interference can be caused by devices, such as:
    • Laptops, tablets, etc.
    • Wireless headsets
    • Wireless printers
    • Microwaves
    • Wireless speakers
    • Cordless phones
    • USB 3.0-compatible devices such as hard drives, thumb drives, LAN adapters, etc.
In most cases it will be enough to move these devices three to four feet away from the Nintendo Switch console and/or Joy-Con controllers. However, if you continue to experience this issue, please power these devices off while using the Nintendo Switch console.

So there we have it. No fix, no patch and no realistic solution. Console has to be docked, out in the open, away from a TV or any other wireless device with you sat as close to it as possible. Unacceptable I'm afraid.
