*** Nintendo Switch ***

The poor launch line up could have so easily been compensated for with a solid virtual console line up - but there's next to nothing.

That's not even a lot of work and a raft of old school Mario/Zelda games would have been awesome. Working ARM emulators are no new thing.

My guess is it just wasn't ready in time, great revenue stream so no sensible reason for Nintendo not to do it besides the fact it isn't finished.

Yeah; I'm still struggling. It cannot be a legitimate argument to defend the lack of a exclusive triple AAA titles against other console launches considering the IP available and owned by Nintendo. I can see my comments coming across as overtly negative and that certainly isn't my wish. I'm just stunned that Nintendo have seemingly done it again! Gah.

Reports are they had to get it out before the end of the fiscal year to hit their financial targets and also boost Q1 next FY.

Zelda is such a great AAA title that they thought it'd be enough for the console to sell out of the initial allocation, which it seems to have done. And Mario Kart isn't far away.

I won't argue the fact the Switch was rushed, you can see that from the lack of features in the OS, but none of the missing stuff is a deal-breaker for me, people moaning about lack of an activity tracker or achievements bugs me. They'd rather worry about tracking how much time they've played a game rather than just playing the game, what the **** does it matter?

And the whole Netflix thing... oh no, I've only got 11 other devices which run Netflix. And personally I cancelled Netflix about 6 months ago and haven't missed it, not enough regular new content.

By the time November comes there will be a plenty of games.

Nintendo could've waited till then, I suppose, but why wait when they can provide us with handheld Zelda now.l

my PS4 is just collecting dust atm as I'm on the pc all the time

Perhaps not to your tastes, but Nioh, Nier 2, Yakuza Zero all look brilliant. Horizon Zero Dawn too, although not my cup of tea. Now is particularly a good time to have a PS4. I'm still working my way through Resident Evil in VR and it impresses me more than anything I've played in years!

I cant get hold of a copy of Zelda, gauranteed for tomorrow and I'm considering going digital instead. When I add an extra SD card later, will this complicate things in any way? Sorry if that sounds silly but is it as simple as that will always take up so much system memory and any other games will go straight to the SD card?

Same. A new Monster Hunter with drop in and out local/online co-op would force my hand. There's never been a system more suited - it must happen!

Might you regret going digital for such a classic!? I would don't want to put you off though.

So, how long do we think it will be before updated Joycons come out? Or docks less likely to scratch stuff?
I have been thinking about getting a Switch nearer Christmas (as I never buy when things first come out due to price and teething problems) and am hoping the little issues currently existing are resolved by then. I am aware many are not suffering from any problems, but my luck almost guarantees that my purchase will have one or the other problem (especially as I would eventually like to have 4 Joycons for a bit of Bomerberman 8 player fun). Given that the 'main issues' the Switch faces seem to be not with the console itself, I am hoping they will resolve them pretty easily.

Regarding 'lack of games' I think my issue is the lack of true classics over the last few years. I look forward to Zelda, and will enjoy Bomberman and MK for local multiplayer (which I think is a real strength for Nintendo which not too many seem to mention, I have a PC for my online gaming, but fun games when mates are around, the Nintendo can really shine....I mean 8 players for Bomberman is sweet!), but I feel Nintendo have been a bit slack over the years which is what has left their consoles wanting - where are the Goldeneye type game? Or Perfect Dark? Castlevania? Heck, if they created another Secret of Mana I would have the Switch right now

I honestly think Nintendo have all the big titles coming, they saw the writing on the wall with the Wii U early on and probably thought what's the point of wasting quality IP on a dead platform.

Amazon are saying 31st March. I think you'd be lucky to get one off the high street but if you scoured local supermarkets you might get one.

I've never pre-ordered a console before but I am so glad I managed to get one on release. I'd be going stir crazy right now if I hadn't!

I read the Argos has stock :)

Don't think so!
