People seriously need to learn from the past and start noticing patterns.
Yeah Zelda might have somehow been profiled to hell and back to attain 1080p30, but it is a loss leader system-seller and how many studios/publishers of 3rd party games will be able to put that much effort in for their shovelware. Every system launch people argue about the wording of this and that in a press release in vain hope of a miracle.
Every handheld claims "console-level specs/graphics".
Every console claims "PC-level".
Every manuf. claims "up to" 4K (which always turns out to be Netflix). In the past it was "Full HD" and before that "HD" and before that it was claims like "full motion video" which was actually more like a slideshow.

I will indeed be buying a Nintendo Switch. I've not really picked up the Nintendo games since the Gamecube days, so the fact I'll have a back catalogue from Wii right through to current Gen Switch makes me very happy! I just hope I can deal with gaming on the go, pfft, it's been done to death!

Might get this on release, its a cool idea and I'm warming more to it each day. Needs a Metriod game though
I think it looks quite cool and innovative. I like that they don't try and do the same as Ms and Sony. They basically produce the same thing but you get a different controller and power differences. Nothing else is different between and xbox and playstation really. They both have their Plus /Gold online service and both get a version of every game that comes out.
I've always came back to my Pc for mainstream and then would use my consoles for the exclusives.
Nintendo wouldn't stand out by making a powerful xbox style console.

I agree.
Many always right off Nintendo because they dont follow what MS and Sony are doing. But what are MS and Sony doing differently from each other....nothing. Shouting about 4K because they have ran out of other ideas to sell their consoles. While Nintendo have a whole bunch of ideas they have yet to reveal to the gaming industry.
Nintendo can still afford to take risks and still have plenty of back pocket money. MS and Sony really cant.

which if u look far back into my posts here. you would see how this switch has no chance against ipads, iphones and samsungs of the likes.
When i mean gaming handheld i mean PSP/DS stuff dedicated to just gaming. They are dead and not relivant around europe and USA, tiny markets as you say

To clarify - the resolutions/fps thing is just me speculating for fun what they might target for some games. Nintendo have mentioned nothing about how games will run.
Developing a game to run at 1080p is not hard with the right technical planning - it's a design choice. Developers often choose lower resolutions in favour of other graphical processing features.
3DS has sold almost as well in the US as in Japan - it's very close. And almost a third of sales are from outside Japan & US, so pretty good sales in Europe, too.
Apple and Samsung are not Nintendo's competitor, the same way for MS and Sony.
No matter what way you look at it there is always a place for Nintendo regardless of what hardware they release. They have big IP's which they can only drip feed to the mobile market such as Pokemon Go and Mario Run.
The Switch can smash the market if Nintendo do it right.

I am excited about this mainly because it would allow me to play and finish games again. My girlfriend wants to sit together after work and watch TV, so I now don't have a lot of gaming time. A console with a decent quality seperate screen allows me to play and keep her happy at the same time.
A few people have mentioned the base providing power to increase clock speeds. What if it goes further than that? Is there anything stopping Nintendo from including additional tegra chips in the hand held that only come online when mains powered?
I am not too bothered either way really, I don't recall playing a game on the wii u and thinking it needed more processing power or better graphics.

Haha I get the same with the wife which is why I don't use the man cave with the PC very much. Same reason I got a gaming laptop, at least we are in the room together. This was a big reason why my PS4 didn't get much use before I traded it in.

Plus you can already grab your smartphone or tablet and play games like this anyway.
Ps4 and pc have remote play and you can use a laptop too.
Plenty of options.
