*** Nintendo Switch ***

Would love to know what tablets, phones and controllers you guys are using to play AAA games?

If you could point me in the direction of the games you're all playing too?

I can play anything from my steam library on a nvidia shield tablet.

Or even use an under spec laptop and remote play it. Seriously have u never heard or done this?

Also the PS vita was a brilliant device too

I only heard of Steam Link literally last week. Before that I had zero idea it existing.

Whilst the switch may not be innovating in that sense. It will however bring this technology more to the public eye.

Seriously, yes I have and the reason I don't do it is the poor performance and input lag.

An answer I was expecting tbh and confirmation that nothing on the market currently does what the switch is offering.

The less said about the vita the better.

The vita does it. Has brilliant graphics mate for a handheld.

I've actually tried it once. The remote steam play and I diddnt get any input lag that made the game unplayable.

Needs a fast WiFi connection of course.

I bet people's missus will still complain about there man's playing instead of watching..

Plus you can already grab your smartphone or tablet and play games like this anyway.

Ps4 and pc have remote play and you can use a laptop too.

Plenty of options.

This isn't innovative at all

I found Remote Play crap TBH. Even when my PS4 was in the living room, wired to the router, it was too laggy. Microsoft's version was borderline playable back when I had my Xbox One. Steam's version was alright; lag was low enough for games like Total War.

Can't really disagree on it not being innovative though. It isn't really. I doubt I'll even buy one TBH as it's likely to be expensive, and I wouldn't be surprised if it continues the Nintendo tradition of poor third party support . But I like the idea.

Am I missing something why are people comparing this to Nvidia Shield or Vita remote play, isn't the point here you take it away and do not need any kind of internet connection to continue play as the machine is powering the game?

I am not a good advert for Nintendo as the N64 was their last console which I kept for more than a year, I got rid of the Wii U once I had my fill of Mario Kart and Mario World. I liked the idea of playing games on the controller but obviously it only worked within range of the console and I travel with work a lot. I have remote play via Vita but a lot of hotel wifi is ropey as hell and on some games the missing buttons just do not translate well into touch screen.

This seems perfect for me tbh

The different between remote play and the Switch. You will get no input lag with the Switch as the game is always with you. No company has invested in something like this apart from Nvidia and look who they are budding up with.......

Sony, MS, Steam, OnLive have all been half arsed attempts due to remote play and lag issues.

My missus commented on the switch and said it seems to be doing too many things at once and not decided on which thing to do well/best at.

She also commented on the ergonomics ask me if it really is that squared with my round edges etc?

She thinks it would be difficult to hold and play for long periods, especially using those tiny side control pads for local MP

Thanks for the letting us know what your missus thinks :D

The Switch is Nintendo doing what they need to do to stay relevant, the Wii U and 3DS proves they can't fully support 2 consoles on their own, with the Wii U basically being left to die for the whole of 2016.

They can't rely on 3rd parties because they aren't willing to invest in powerful hardware. This allows them to double their output.

Imagine if all the 3DS and Wii U releases were just on a single console.

What do people think the battery life will be like on these devices? i cant see it being that great especially if they are going to power up games that look a lot better then the vita?
