*** Nintendo Switch ***

Can u watch movies on this device on movies stored on your micro sd card?

Not yet.

There's a ton of these for sale on the MM. Is it that bad?

People that probably bought for Zelda and have no interest in anything else in the short term. I believe stock is still pretty short, so selling now will get the best price.

It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, just has a shortage of big games but then everyone knew that before they bought it.

Nintendo rushed the Switch's launch imo. It has a very limited library of games, with no virtual console, or film and media functionality. It's essentially a Zelda machine at this stage, although even that is available on their previous console. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is just a glorified port! Most of the indie titles are available elsewhere also.

Step up your game, Nintendo!

It was rushed but understandably so:
In before end of financial year for a good boost, get a rush of early adopters (more than expected too), followed by a bit of a lull (hopefully a chance to build up their stock) then E3 should it go well causes another flurry of purchases, all well ahead of Scorpio release. Then come the Holidays it is hopefully established with a number of games out plus a positive outlook for the coming year (via a Direct or two) to further entice people.

Not really, you can play that "big game" already on an old console.
Which a lot of people never played because they didn't bother with the Wii-U, but are now bothering/interested in the Switch.

Port or not. It's going to be a bit hit for the Switch.

I'm looking forward to MK8, missed it on the WiiU and it feels like the perfect sort of game for playing on the go.

Lol, a game cannot be magicked out of thin air within a few days. :p

Do I agree with the big distance between releasing Zelda and MK8D? Nope. And yeah it's just a Zelda machine if you're not interested in Nindies. However, look at what else is ongoing...

Nintendo online network is regularly being brought down for "maintenance" - my betting is the preparation for the online infrastructure for MK8D and others going forward. Indie titles are coming out coupled with devs announcing their support and beginning projects for the console itself.

We'll likely find out the release dates for ARMS and Splatoon 2 tomorrow. Plus Nintendo mentioned discussion around some other Switch titles. I'll bet they'll be strategically released throughout May in the build up to E3.

The Spector of Torment is more fun than the Shovel Knight campaign imho, so absolutely!

The Plague Knight one, not so much, it's just a less playable character in the same stages.
Cool I'll probably check out the Spector campaign whilst I wait for more Yookah Laylee feedback.

I'm somewhat reminded of a final review quip for the original Splatoon that amused me:

"Our word on Splatoon: Zelda had better be good"

How much time have Nintendo had to make their games.... I'm so glad I passed on the Wii U if the 'cream of the meagre crop' is going to be ported anyway.

I was tempted to cancel my MK8 pre-order and pick up later as I have so much still to do with Zelda, but have a good price with Amazon so might as well keep it.

If you don't/didn't own a Wii U what do you care? MK8 is essentially a new game for most people since so few owned a Wii U in the first place.

GTAV came out a year later on PS4 and Xbox One, didn't stop it selling in huge numbers and the updates were slight at best, the only significant thing was first-person mode which I personally didn't like/use.

For those who are buying Mk8 and catering for multiplayer, what controllers are you getting? Half tempted to get 2 Pro controllers in addition to one I have plus the default one instead of inflicting people to use the joycons seperate

It will sell well, just like how MK on the 3DS and Wii U are still selling well years after release.

It's nothing to get excited about though.

I have a pro controller, the joycons with the switch and a second set of joycons with the charge grip.

This way I can have 3 players with proper pads (pro/charge grip/poverty grip), or 4 players with 2 proper pads and 2 joycons.

The second set of joycons makes much more sense over a second pro pad in my opinion, although it is definitely worth having one pro pad.

I don't think the joycons will work well for Smash Bros though.

I've seen some custom skins & grips you can get for the joy cons which are relatively cheap and apparently improve the feel a lot!

On wii u I found the old wii nunchucks and thumb stick completely fine for MK so not sure I would bother with extra pro controllers on switch.

That doesn't add the missing buttons and sticks needed for Smash Bros though.
