*** Nintendo Switch ***

That's a shame, because the Switch desperately needs third party support. I hope it isn't the start of a trend!
If anything the trend is developers/studios announcing support and projects on an almost daily basis. There are LOTS of third parties on board.

Of that list... my comments.
You missed out on a lot of great titles, most of which won't be ported (a few are available on other platforms):
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - obviously I've played this :p
Super Mario 3D World - yup
Super Smash Bros. - yup but only appealing for local multiplayer... which most people rarely have time for. I will eat my own hands if this isn't ported.
Rayman Legends - played
Bayonetta - played, was OK
Bayonetta 2 - not fussed
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - played on GC
Mario Kart 8 - ported
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition - meh
Super Mario Maker - meh
Shovel Knight - played
Pikmin 3 - yup
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD - played on GC
Child of Light - not played but not exclusive
Xenoblade Chronicles X - doesn't appeal
New Super Mario Bros. U - not played but not that appealing
SteamWorld Dig - not played but not exclusive
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze - yup but, honestly thought the snes games were meh... sacrilege I know
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - yup
splatoon - a platoon 2 is coming
FAST Racing NEO - meh
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - lol
Yoshi's Woolly World - lol
The Wonderful 101 - lol
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed - not exclusive
Nintendo Land -lol
New Super Luigi U - as above not much appeal
Pokken Tournament - not much appeal
Disney DuckTales Remastered - oh come on!
Hyrule Warriors - heard mixed things
Paper Mario: Color Splash - again mixed things

There's maybe like... 3 games in there that I feel I missed out on and, as I said, the likelihood of portage is high.

As for the 'lol's I concede they may be fun in their own way but really they have mixed reviews and, personally, zero appeal.

I'm so glad I passed on the Wii U if the 'cream of the meagre crop' is going to be ported anyway.

The Switch makes so much more sense if you didn't own a WiiU as Zelda and MK8 are basically ports and the rest are existing and old indie titles. There isn't actually anything new on the Switch at all. Whether this is an issue for certain people is by the by - it's great gamers will get to enjoy titles they missed first time round and really great to have them on a handheld - but it's absolutely a valid concern given how long Nintendo have had to work on the Switch and their track record over the last few generations. Unless we're surprised by a new announcement, the first 'proper' Switch release will be Mario Odyssey sometime later this year.

One of the best games on WiiU was ZombiU imho, was desperately underrated and made great use of the controller to add some excitement. The port to the Xbox One/PS4 just didn't feel the same.

Shame the game/console bombed as i'd have loved to see a sequel.

Agreed. The multiplayer was also promising, if underdeveloped. A game built around that - like L4D but with an real person being the zombie director - would be silly amounts of fun. In fact that'd be brilliant on the Switch with local multiplayer.

Sign me up, would be awesome!

If you don't like ports, indie games or some classic Nintendo stuff that's on the list then maybe the Switch isn't for you.

Just got my switch today and i tried to hook it up to my Denon AV reciever and no picture shows up?

However if i connect the dock directly to my TV it works?

Any suggestions?

I agree, but only for popel who are buying a Switch right now. Though all the 'original' Switch games are only in the pipeline to release later for now. It'll change come the end of this year when Switch will have games that weren't available on WiiU. And I will admit that MK8 Deluxe is the superior version of the game or the version of the game that should have released in the first place, depending on how you look at it.

Looks to be that way. Compare it with the other consoles. They are getting many of the same 3rd party titles that Switch is getting (i.e. Snake Pass, Yooka-Laylee, Shovel Knight), but alas they also get a bit more. The big budget games like GTA and Overwatch can really sell hardware and it's a shame if Switch never gets them.

Think of it this way, PSVita had a similar issue. Sony themselves and big publishers gave up and never released major titles for it. And while it looks like a failure form the outside, it turns out that the Vita did have support, from the indies and smaller 3rd parties (i.e. just like Switch). Only issue was, due to lack of 'bigger' games, most people weren't interested in getting one since the other games alone weren't enough to appeal to a mass audience. Let's hope the Switch doesn't go the way of Vita/WiiU. It really needs those big titles.

Or at least for Nintendo to acknowledge it as the one and only superior handheld (i.e. kill off 3DS)...

Zelda has another patch. V1.1.2

Patch notes say "a more pleasant experience"

So more frame rate fixes then :p

I'm going to take the plunge if I can get my hands on one when I'm in New York. I'm sold on the fact that whilst it's still "gimmicky" it's perhaps the most sensible console design Nintendo have made since the Gamecube. Wasn't sold entirely on WiiU and Wii was just a family games machine.

Read somewhere (probably old news) that they were getting developers from the 3DS to focus efforts on Switch. With this happening hopefully it means the Switch will be much better supported than other consoles.

Agreed. What i'm interested in is whether the Switch will end up home to a tonne of pick up and play handheld style games and the occasional big hitter from Nintendo, or whether it will get a decent selection of meaty home console titles too. The former is great, but a lot of people want Metroid, F-Zero etc etc as they're what made Nintendo the name they are today. I don't see it getting good aaa 3rd party support fullstop, but would love to be proven wrong.

If Nintendo can get the 3DS and WiiU developers consolidated onto one platform then it's going to be a guaranteed runaway success. I'm looking forward to the first Pokemon game on decent hardware and it will be playable on a home TV too.
