Actually, I totally forgot about this from the other week..

Earlier today, Emily Rogers tweeted out some unconfirmed tidbits about the new Mario title for Switch. Nintendo showed a few seconds from the game during its announcement of the system last month.

According to Rogers, the project is “practically finished.” With that in mind, she believes it could be a launch title as opposed to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The latter game could still make Switch’s launch window, though Mario “was much further along in development than anyone thinks.”

No idea who this Emily Rogers is, but it does look like Mario could be a launch title.
 
It needs to have a strong launch title for me to buy it at launch. Would be happy with a new Mario game like the one shown in the trailer. But ideally want Zelda.
 
I think all the launch game announcements in January will sway many :).

Mario being far along in development shouldn't be a surprise. Mario 3D World was finished 3+ years ago and they've likely been working on it since then.

It's not a delay, as all we had before was "2017".

There's more to localisation than just getting translations for all the text.

While the core content and mechanics of the game will be done, the game is still in active development - it is not finished. I'm sure more than just the text will be worked on between now and release. The E3 demo had several obvious (mostly minor) issues that will certainly be fixed in the final build. In a game of this scale there will always be room for improvement.
 
Hah, it looks pretty real. But seems a little early for having one. Not even the dev kits would look like that. Could be a real dummy? Like something the people in the Switch video could have been using?

Read reports of people making mock ups with 3d printers.

A new mario and zelda launch, coupled with a cheap £200 entry would have tipped me over the edge.

As it stands, just another mario game, I think I'll do a Kreeeeeeeee and wait until better bundles appear, also I'd like to see the early adoption rates post the WII U
 
Yeah, if you look at the official pics, their are slight differences. Pretty amazing people are able to make such good mock ups from just looking at pics.
 
Fresh round of rumours this morning

  • Mario launch title. More exploration focused than 3D World & Galaxy. Has co-op mode
  • Skyrim is a launch title
  • The premium bundle includes Splatoon
  • Splatoon has more single player and multiplayer content, improved 1v1 mode for local multiplayer
  • Mario Kart 8 Switch is finished, new characters, tracks and new improved battle mode

Splatoon needs to be a big push imo, once plaed i could see its potential but pre release it looked a bit basic!

So fun!

Skyrim can do without, whats the point at this stage! So over rated imo! But may open up a chane to play that game if those wanting to have been living under a rock or something :D
 
Splatoon was a big seller, I think they did a great job marketing it. Like several Wii U games, it had a a lot of buzz around the time of release but many simply didn't want to buy a Wii U to play it. Great choice for Switch a pack-in game imo.

Skyrim is very popular still, many purchased Remastered to replay it and I think being able to play on the go will be a big selling point. I played 130+ hours of it on PC years ago, not too interested in playing it again myself but can see it selling well on Switch.
