In fairness though as the Wii U sold so poorly most people won't have experienced a lot of the good games on there, for example MK8 only sold 8m copies up to end of September 2016 (https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/software/wiiu.html) and is by far the biggest selling game.
Not sure if accurate but Nintendo Life were posting that a new budget 3DS is coming out in the US, might be why stock is drying up if a new version is incoming, maybe they'll release here too.

Part of Nintendo's plan seems to be testing how many times they can sell people the same games... (looks at Mini NES, yep I'm one of those suckers).

Nintendo are internally aiming for a June 16 2017 UK Breath of the Wild Switch release. Aiming Wii U for June 23 2017 UK.
