*** Nintendo Switch ***

Salt may be needed for this, but one of the editors (Tom Phillips) from EuroGamer tweeted this:
Nintendo Switch line-up already great:

3D Mario
Mario Kart 8.5
Mario Rabbids RPG
Splatoon
Zelda
Pikmin 4
Pokémon Stars
and more...

Now what Nintendo class as the 'launch window' is up to 90 days after release. So we could have zelda within the first 3 months of release! Never played Pikmin on the wii u, but heard good things about it. These are only 1st/2nd party releases, will be more 3rd party games to come.

Thought Zelda was already confirmed to not be out at launch??

Well, we more meant launch as in as soon as it was released. But as I said, within 90 days after its launched it technically their 'launch window' which would be around mid June. Which would be mid 2017 as Malachi said.

Switch rumormonger Laura Kate Dale sent along some new speculation about titles coming to Switch on her Twitter account today. Some of the information isn’t as set compared to previous rumors we’ve heard about due to only being single-sourced, but may be worth sharing in any case.

Dale is primarily attempting to paint a picture about what lies ahead for Switch in 2017. The new 3D Mario, Mario Rabbids RPG, Splatoon port, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Just Dance 2017 are among the games planned for launch. The Smash Bros. port, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, and Super Mario Maker are said to be launching within the first six months. New additions for the first half year of Switch include Xenoblade Chronicles X, Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Silver Case (Grasshopper Manufacture’s visual novel that has been revitalized on new platforms).

As for what else is lined up for Switch, Dale hears that Pokemon Stars could see release in the fall along with Pikmin 4, and Project Sonic 2017 at some point. With Pikmin 4, which is labeled as a reboot, she says it “May only be in name but they want to be clear internally it’s not a sequel. They don’t want 4 in title.” Zelda: Breath of the Wild will also be getting a demo supposedly. However, Dale cautions that it “could be for press rather than public, not stating a public demo download.”

Here’s a look at what Dale believes will end up on Switch and when:

More salt needed here. But looks a decent first year.

I'm not surprised to see Xenoblade X added to the list of rumoured ports, would be criminal not to re-release that beast :).

I wonder what style of game the rumoured Mario Rabbids RPG could be... perhaps 2D in vein of Child of Light... if not then I'd guess maybe a top down Pokemon style or strategy RPG.

These new rumours (leaks?) have been coming quite steady, but probably inevitable considering Nintendo's plan to announce things so close to release.

I wanna say I read it was like a Paper Mario - but I could be making that up and getting my wires crossed. Never played Xenoblade series but I've heard good things! Part of me would like to see a hyrule warriors port, never played it, but it looks fun. But I'll try to get a copy for the Wii u.

Yeah at this stage it must be pretty hard keeping anything a secret. Wonder if we'll get anything else. Would imagine all the big stuff has been mentioned, but I'd guess maybe a couple more 3rd party stuff will come out.

3DS XL is still £170, cant see this being anywhere near £200.

Correction: New Nintendo 3DS XL is that price.

And I will say that original models of the 3DS seem to have stopped being produced, they're out of stock everywhere and unlike last year, there are no black friday deals for 3DS hardware. Stocks of even the newer models of 3DS are not that great. Which is strange to say the least... (Nintendo trying to make a last squeeze of money from the 3DS?)

The only new bundles and such coming out are mostly 2DS, which are all usually well under £100. Even then, by now Nintendo would normally have released another iteration of the 3DS (like a new new 3DS) and knock the prices of the current model down a tad for it. But I guess they've done the Switch instead, which is a much better thing.

Think about it, right now you can get a basic WiiU for ~£200 and the premium one for a bit more. It makes sense if the basic model of the Switch is £200 and then the pro version with a game and possibly a pro controller is £50 more. Would also make sense considering the power of this thing, it's not that much faster than a WiiU.

*Details of launch year game rumours*

Definitely salt needed. I'm personally a bit put off by the large proportion of ports/remasters/re-releases (it's far too reminiscent of the other consoles this gen, who haven't had as strong a line-up of games as previous gens). Though I don't think Mario Kart is Mario Kart 8, if only because of double items. It's either a new Mario Kart of a HD remake of Double Dash.

I know somewhere else (IMDB listings for Charles Martinet AKA Mario's voice actor) there's rumours that there will be a Mario Sunshine HD remake and Mario Galaxy 3. The latter may have been the Mario game shown in the reveal trailer.

It's still a good line-up if true though. I love XCX, so more folks playing that would be appreciated. I'm wondering how they'll do the bottom screen when playing on just the TV, even the gamepad-only mode required touch controls for the interchangeable bottom (gamepad) screen.

It'll be interesting to see what Nintendo does with the DS handheld line given its now effectively being superceded by the switch. I wondered if they'd keep it around, as a cheaper option for kids, or drop it in a hurry and focus purely on the switch. It's looking like the latter option by the lack of supply of DS's.

Not sure if accurate but Nintendo Life were posting that a new budget 3DS is coming out in the US, might be why stock is drying up if a new version is incoming, maybe they'll release here too.

Hmmm not that keen now really if those launch titles are to go by. Seems to be a lot of remakes/remasters/ports. Theres only one AAA title on launch which will be Mario. Shame Zelda and the new Mario Kart wont be launching day one.

Will probably still pick one up if the new Mario title shows promise.

Yea. Would have loved a new Mario Kart, not the same game with maybe a few editions. My guess is the dlc will come as standard and maybe a few more tracks or something. If graphics are improved or maybe it plays 1080p instead of 720p, that would be interesting. But really would much rather have something new.

I suppose it makes sense for them to get as many games on the system as possible at launch to give them time for new ones. But I hope we don't have to wait 3+ years for a new Mario Kart or other new games made directly for the Switch.

That Mario RPG sounds good, if done well I would certainly buy that.

I wonder if titles like Resident Evil will make it to the Switch, I remember when they were exclusives for the GameCube, the Resident Evil remake had excellent graphics for its time. Wish they made more games with pre-rendered backgrounds today, just imagine what would be possible with today's tech. Would love a new Resident Evil or Dino Crisis made with pre-rendered backgrounds.

Yeh I would have expected more completely brand new content for the system/exclusives, not one or two games, pretty poor to be honest just relying on rehashing old titles.

Having said that we don't know for definite what the launch titles are going to be yet so it could change and I will still probably buy it despite my bitching!

Yea, I am buying one on release regardless. New Mario will keep me busy until the new Zelda is out, so not a problem :)

Wonder how long 3rd party devs have had access to development kits? Seems a bit shorter notice than we're used to, with Nintendo keeping the lid on many of the Switch (NX) features until the last few months.
