*** Nintendo Switch ***

Clocked probably 60 hours on smash bros but otherwise haven’t touched my switch.

I’ve played mario, dropped rabbids, botw, xc2, mario Kart and smash bros.

Last year wasn’t great for me apart from smash.. everything else was ports I can’t being myself to pay full price for. Maybe I need to buy a second switch and hack it.

I thought I’d always have a Nintendo exclusive game to play portably but Nintendo have slightly let me down so far. I know the games are on the roadmap to release (Zelda remake, fire emblem, Pokemon) .. can’t come soon enough tho.

In regards to another switch version, it’s inevitable they will but I don’t think now is the time.

They’d be smart to coincide it with a big game release and just do a few small updates (Bluetooth audio, smaller bezels, better kickstand). Something like an oled screen would be crazy amazing but I really really doubt it from Nintendo, an increase in resolution could potentially get messy if they do that weird exclusive game thing they did for majoras mask and xenoblade last gen.

I’d love to see them put the new3ds 3D tech into the switch.

The more powerful switch just sounds too messy. I remember they tried it with the 3ds and new3ds. Also I’m not sure if NVIDIA have anything to supply them with for a more powerful model yet.

Whether they should do it? As much as I’d like a revamped switch, I think they should concentrate on releasing more games. They have ridden the botw/odyssey golden rainbow for a year or two now.. it’s time to really compete at the high end of quality gaming again this year. Nintendo should realistically have a few game of the year contenders this year. Last year was barren for a top quality title which compares to say god of war.

This seemed like a really dumb oversight.

The communication with the joycons is pretty heavy on the bandwidth so they had the decide between the options of 8 simultaneous joycons, 6 simultaneous joycons plus audio, or using a more expensive bluetooth/Wifi chipset or even a second bluetooth chip to do it all.

I can see why they did it, but it's a pain.

Splatoon 2 and Mario oddysey turned up today :D going to have a look at this splatoon and see what all the fuss is about.

Just bought JJ Macfield and Wandersong in the sale. Can't help myself.

Baba is You is a joy. It's clever and ridiculous at the same time; sometimes I feel smart, sometimes I feel stupid. Recommend it to everyone.

I've only had the switch 3 months and already I have a broken joycon :( the + button on the right joycon has given up the ghost. Looks like I will have to take it apart and fix it. In the meantime new joycons are on their way... £70 though seems proper expensive.

Did buy a joycon charging stand and some replacement internals for the broken one, as well as metal clips to replace the plastic ones that break. Really it's £100 I didn't want to spend.

I'd buy a new Switch just for Bluetooth audio!

Me too.

I keep looking at new headphones, and then thinking I can't be bothered carrying two sets of headphones. So I've just not bothered.

Being able to use some wireless buds and the switch would be awesome. And the 3rd party bluetooth connectors are dumb and the good ones are lol expensive. £40+

I'm in exactly the same situation. Bluetooth headphones are finally at the stage where I'm ready to dip in but lack of support on the switch means that I'm holding off for now.

I'm going to get JJ Macfield as it's less than £4 on the Russian store, but I missed out on the Wandersong discount.

I'm definitely picking up Baba is you when it's on discount, but I hope it's not like Celeste where it's never on offer.

I have borrowed Splatoon 2 and oddysey off. So far been hooked on oddysey it's quite fun as an adult and my kids enjoy as well. It's a nice balance between kids and adults. Very intuitive

This is good, I tried splatoon in handheld mode last night and honestly it's no good in handheld mode. Think I need to try it docked and see if I can get to grip with the controls, it's a shame really as I much prefer playing in handheld while the wife watches TV or whatever.

I can't play Splatoon in handheld either. Took me a while to get used to motion with the pro controller but it becomes natural after a while. I still feel slow compared to some though. I've never tried split joycons with it.

Yeah mine have a 3.5mm jack. So it's fine, but annoying. I've seen this:

But again, I don't want stuff plugged in. I'd never leave it in, and it's just a pain. Hopefully they revise it, but I doubt it.

Split joycons work far better than the pro controller.

Yeah I know but I never got around to trying it! I will though...

You can turn motion controls off on splatoon as it may make things easier

I used to play it this way because I dismissed motion initially. It actually makes things infinitely harder. Especially in MP you just can't compete with someone using joycons.

Just been giving it a go sat at my desk using tabletop and split joycons in the octo expansion where there are bots. It's going to take some getting used to but yeah I think my brain can cope with the change. Not sure where to hold my right hand lol
