No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

The exact term I used or have been using for months following the ARG, yet everyone still wont put down their pitchforks or tell me I'm retarded to say such a thing. Game is fantastic now, only going to get better also. There's layers of depth and content now, love it.

I honestly think up until this update it was a lost cause, the ARG and rovers, base building etc were like a plaster on an arterial bleed of a game.

Never thought or said you were retarded, just had absolutely zero confidence in hello game and sean murray to actually fix it, let alone two years later.

While it would pain me to say this is the way it should be, I finally think I might have my moneys worth out of it. I think theres still room for improvement though and hope the positive reviews and extra sales push them to do it.

I still dont trust sean or HG in the slightest though, this has been a long time coming and made me wary of anything they do in the future.

Pretty much this. It has at least meshed together in this update.

Have heard some pretty neat things about some star systems too.

Just got my second freighter. I like that they go off on real time missions.

Still working to expand my exo suit along with the occasional artefact hunt thrown in. Base building next.

Much more variety with the procedural generation system now.

Hooked once again.

Just built my Hyperdrive, only then can you see the galaxy map.
Only then do you see the size of the galaxy.

Absolute Unit.
Don't know if any of you are old enough to remember Earth and Beyond (or played it), the last game made by the Command and Conquer people Westwood.
It's like the spiritual successor to that, short lived masterpiece. (thanks EA)

My comment wasn't aimed at you mate, just in general. Me talking about or wanting NMS to succeed in the long run was generally met with a form of comment relating to sheer disgust. People just didn't want to give the game a whiff of a second chance, nor did it seem they wanted anyone else to give it one. Deep down I knew it could be a good game and stuck by it all this time, we are gradually seeing a game that the studio head in their visions. But now it feels because of what went on before launch launch and all the nasty stuff proceeding that, it's driven these guys desperate to go above and beyond to make this game something special. If we truly see weekly updates, fixes, community missions another big update in 12 months, it could end up being one of the greatest space/sci fi games ever.

I'm totally addicted to NEXT. Pulled an hour 8 stint yesterday, finally got myself away from it at 03:47 this morning. That's a damn fine game that can do that to me.

Really enjoying it since the major update recently. Played it for hours last night and before I knew it, it was 2am. Playing it on one of the harder difficulties and started off on a Toxic planet which had its difficulties but
managed to escape the starting planet which I never achieved previously.

If anyone is playing on Permadeath mode, hit me up. I'm pretty relaxed, not going round griefing players etc. Just enjoying the thrill of true survival with the theat of PD

So I'm at the part where you receive a freighter.
However, it came under attack again as I boarded it on my Starship, now I can't undock to fight them off.

Doesn't seem to be an option to order the freighter to attack, just asking me to build a room which I don't have the mats for...
Am I in trouble :(

Ah, the way it's ment to be played :) brave man

Survival mode myself, good balance.
Have lost my entire exo inventory twice and ship inventory once.

Will start a permadeath run soon, just want to get used to all the mechanics and gear/upgrade routes.

I picked this up last night pretty much on a whim (sounds like I chose a good time)

I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm having fun!

The start was brutal. Kept dying from the toxic environment, and couldn't figure out what to do to stay alive for ages.

After that, things got better. I've traveled to a couple of other planets, been to a space center thing.

I don't know what to do next but I'm looking forward to getting home from work and doing stuffs.

I'm not sure if it's worth getting this, I love graphics upgrades, but I was playing No Man's Sky and just confused as to what to do, I thought cool I want to go to another star, I used a whole tank going at whatever the equivalent of warp was and I looked back and could still see the planet I was near, so must take forever to get to other systems?? Has this changed in Next?

It's still the same. You use the Hyperdrive between planets in the same system (when you see the stars whizzing past with the build up) You have a distance shown how far you are from said planet.

£19.99 on steam, you may as well give it a go and refund it within 2 hours if it's not your thing. It's probably difficult to get a grip on it within that time but should be enough to know if it's something you'll play.
