No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

I think the asteroid changes sound like quite a significant change. One step closer to my dream of just mining space rocks...

The expedition will be an interesting change too. I can't say I do that much with freighters typically.

Edit: How is it on the Steam Deck? I've been holding out for the Switch port for the handheld NMS, but wondering if it'll be a downgrade too far.

Runs perfect on steam deck. It's native support as well.

I just checked out the update on PS5 and the number of asteroids is kind of insane.

I feel the same Jonney although for me it's the interaction with NPCs, it's awful and I don't understand why they've never put serious effort into improving that side. It's worse than games from the 90s.

I like the exploration side but I invariably end up deleting my save and restarting as the survival and exploration side are what I tend to enjoy more than anything else.

Yes i feel Starfield will do a better NMS then NMS itself!

Must resist again. I put in over 600 hours on steam, completed a PD to the centre. Then once again played it through again after latest updates a few months back but on Gamepass, another 500 hours or so. I'm trying so hard to resist yet another playthrough lol. Fair Play to HG for the continued support and free updates, incredible turn around really.

Think it's about time I bought this game. I love space and exploring so makes sense.

how does the multiplayer work, is is friends only? Or like a public server?
It's the ultimate (IMHO) space exploration sandbox game. Because of that, you can either love it or hate it.

The state of the game now is well worth the original £49 SRP asking price, so if you can get it at least at half price, you're golden.

The game is HUGE in both scope and scale. It's best to really take your time doing things.

If you have the time, this video (it's a real fun watch) showcases the crazy timeline this game has undergone... truly one of, if not the best redemption story in gaming:

I put maybe 50 hours in, it's good enough, additive at first and if you can get it on a deal it's worth it.

The problem is the game is quite shallow really, after you've learned the basics, there really isn't all that much more.

Towards the end I spent a fair bit of time just jumping from planet to planet trying to find "the one" but although they are procedurally generated, there is obviously a set of parameters and many can be samey, you do get the odd more whacky one but usually not very asthetically pleasing.

Thanks for the reply mate, that's great. Will give the video a watch! I can get it for 16 quid so should be well worth it.
