No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

I wonder how far you can burrow down into the crust of planets, I could happily spend a whole day just on one exploring and mining.

I could swear blind I heard that it is possible to bump into others, just very unlikely.

Just into cave systems apparently, I am sure they said at some point you couldn't go any deeper? I could be wrong though.

They said you are in a sort of bubble and if a player is nearby you will open up a sort of local chat. That said, you could really easily miss them given the scale of everything. I guess stations are the most likely place to bump into someone.

it's impossible. there's no such thing as multiplayer. at best you'll get "jason was ere 2016" sign on a planet. there is no such thing as multiplayer. they suggest the reason is because of the shear size of the game, but it's actually pretty much impossible for them to do it given the size of the small team it would be too much work for them.

if everyone can get to the center of the galaxy, then everyone can eventually find each other.

They said recently that you would see other players and enter a local chat lobby with them? Scratching my head for where I watched/read that.

“People are coming into that lobby and leaving it – like if you play Watch Dogs or something like that. Effectively, we have players joining your discrete space,” Murray said.

There we go. Basically local peer to peer lobbies. Of course these encounters will be very rare.

I know sarcasm doesn't translate well on the internet, but I just called Skyrim a two hour game.

Come on now.

I was just pointing out that 100+ is far from the low hours being implied. I didn't take the 2 hours literally but yes, sarcasm didn't translate like you intended

Wow I was just looking at the Wiki page for No Man's Sky - Didn't realise it was created by a company of 15 people! That's a pretty amazing achievement

I don;t think they've implemented proper joystick support, as flying is pretty dumbed down from what I've been lead to believe.

Hmm, hope they have, never used a console controller(due to never having a console) I'd want to use a joystick for flying & KB & Mouse for walking around.

Console controllers are adequate for flying around so don't worry too much. I don't know why they wouldn't add at least basic support for joysticks though.
