No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

£40 would be fine if there weren't huge trust issues with games. Its a gamble today. Gone are the days when you expect to get a nicely optimized game finished and bug free on release. Bring back cartridges! Or stay a year behind the curve when you pay a fiver.

I agree, totally, with the sentiment that pre-orders are bad. However, I personally, have some exceptions to not pre-ordering (Valve/Blizzard/Rockstar - if they have an IP I'm interested in, or Football Manager) however I feel the answer to pre-order 'problem' is not just people pre-ordering.

It's the entire package; pre-orders that result in broken/unfinished/buggy games, 'Kickstarter' is a huge problem - paying for future content, buying from companies again that have provided you with a broken/unfinished/buggy game. However, until people wise up to this; and stop pre-ordering En masse nothing will change.

I find the price arguments hilarious, but not as funny as the crowd whom with each hyped release fail to get the game early and then go postal.

The amount of people who moan, complain and generally find it outrageous that a game is being released at £40 and they cannot find it for their perceived value of £20 or less is astonishing.

However, no where near the level of indignation when a game will not arrive before its release date! 'How dare they not send me an item before it's released !' :D.

I decided to go ahead with the pre-order because I am 99.9% sure I would buy it anyway and I got a £400 tax return yesterday.

If I get 30 hours out of it I won't feel short changed but more is always welcome.

I fail to see how even at £50, if this game provides you with 25 hours of entertainment it would not be worth it.

I pay £30 for Football Manager and regularly get 1000+ hours. People then claim that a game they pay £30-40 for is not 'value for money' despite putting in something ~25~ + hours.

Will wait for a £20 deal.

Same here unless the reviews are awesome then I might just pick it up at full price. I'm hoping it plays well with a controller through my steam links so I can relax on the sofa or even in bed if Mrs P want the tv. Gone are the days where I'd sit at my desk for hours on end playing games, getting old, need more comfort :)

I just use the cinema arguement when it comes to pricing. Could pay 20-30 for a 2 hr film and a snack for me and my gf, the film could be utter **** and theres no more to it

Atleast with a game 20-30 hrs would be great value for money imo, and further more if bought on console it can be sold on etc

20-30? You are lucky, my gf like Imax films so it's closer to 50 for me :(

Or, more recently, people buying SLI Titan X's for £2200

Agreed:p I was quite surprised at how many people were willing to drop such money on a graphics card. It make's discussing whether a game is worth 30 quid quite preposterous in contrast.

I'm quite intrigued with No Man's Sky personally. If done right and with enough variety of procedurally generated content, it might be a great exploration game to just jump in and out of.

I see that Sony have copyright striked a fair few channels on yoootoob for not only showing leaked footage but also for reporting on the leak.... Whilst I have my eye on NMS the heavy tactics of Sony reminds me that this is far from independent at I am not sure it will be anything other than causal game....

Sony are only doing the marketing.
