No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

I've been tempted to order this several times in the last week but I have a feeling like most survival type games I'll play it for a few days then drop it due to boredom. Visually it does look a great game but I'm not sure if there's enough depth in it yet for me.

The usual nonsense. Those who love it give it a ten. Those who don't give it zero. Then you have the fanboys and trolls in the mix too.

As long as those over hyping it with a 10 and those being negative with a 0 are roughly equal, together with the fans and people trolling, you have a fairly accurate score with that many reviews. I agree good chunks of it are garbage, but the score itself is usually fairly representative.

Actually been following this game for a long time. "not played yet cause I'm xbone and PC"

Sick to death of the new generation of gamers that have emerged. In all honesty who gives a flying %^*&.

And in response to my own question, the people who cannot see this game for what it actually is.

Can we for once embrace a game that is trying to do something new...I rarely use my console anymore because it's the same crap with a new skin.

Without even playing this game, all I know is that I can explore in my ship. Fly from one planet to another, seamlessly. This is a game that everyone should embrace for all of its positives. And remove the negatives.

Shet_COD was amazing back in the modern warfare days. But apparently the gaming industry has changed.

Amen to this game. #notevenplayedityetbutwhocares

Down vote to the modern gamer that has lost sight in video games and entertainment. IF you enjoy it. Embrace. If not. Leave it alone.

I'm glad there is no multiplayer. Based on recent MP experience from another game, I would meet another lone wanderer against all odds, to be shot in the back and have my gear and ship stolen.

Watching with interest how the PC version comes out, dont recall seeing any PC footage or any real detail on PC. Have liked what I've seen from the PS4.

Cheers

If you've been following No Mans Sky, you've most likely heard about the recent occurrence of two streamers who managed to "find eachother" in no mans sky. they both flew to the same planet, and went to the exact same spot. However upon arrival, they found out that they could not actually see one another, and as a matter of fact, on one persons game it was daytime, the other it was night.

This has caused many people to freak out and there's been a uproar from the community, who demand answers. Sean Murray has promised that multiplayer would be available but the chances of it happening are highly unlikely. So yes, he has lied, many, many times:

What are your thoughts on this?

For the most part, I'm not bothered. As far as I'm concerned, the game has always been marketed as a single player experience. Never once has ANY footage or concept been shown to the public showing ANY live multiplayer interaction.

In regards to Seans awkward interviews, I see that he talks about interactions. That does not necessarily mean LIVE interaction. He could be eluding to leaving notes in game for others, like digital graffti. That is STILL an emotional interaction where you can connect with the fact that another person has shared a single spot in a vast universe with you. He never once said to you see AND do anything with another player, where in fact he said don;t go looking for a COD style game where you fight or explore together.

When listening to Sean over the past few years, that's the kind of takeaway I've had from them. He always talks about the emotional response to something

My personal theory is that you should see a hologram or something showing a glimpse of a player, like seeing people die in Dark Souls. However as the PS4 server is shot to crap (over 1 million db calls an hour), something is going wrong with this. Thus the network Engineer Tweets.

It's frustrating that Sean won't clarify one way or another. However it won;t effect my choice of buying and playing, as I never let myself get carried away with the idea that the game ever did multiplayer, and I have already given my reasons for preferring the game this way.

Ohh so its a survival game is it? cause i have no idea what type of game it is!

Yes it's definitely a survival/exploration game. The survival part can seem quite daunting at first but once you figure out which elements you need to keep a stock of it really doesn't get in the way of exploring at all.

The really environmentally hazardous planets can be tricky, especially during a storm, but even then, I haven't upgraded my environmental protection yet, doing that will make exploring the brutal planets much easier.

Can't open it because I'm at work, but is that the vid where Sean Murray talks about people meeting & possibly going into their own personal chat lobby?

The whole MP thing doesn't bother me in the slightest, not interested in meeting other players for the exact reason Dr.Fate said. To me it was always going to be a single player game & talk of adding MP would spoil it slightly for me.

I saw on a number of channels last night regarding this. What I have seen of it I have to wonder what people thought they were going to do if they did meet up. Combat? Play date?
If there is no communications built into the game, how where people supposed to communicate.

Yep he said something about meeting up but that might not be a thing move on.

I have seen a great deal of hate over the past few days, for what, I am not sure. Surely if you have not bought the game, have an opinion on what you would have liked it to be but don't get annoyed if it does not fulfill your expectations. If you preordered it on steam, refund. Getting all worked up and hating on the devs if foolish and childish. I do wonder if it is some from the space sim community as I know they can get very toddler like when things don't seem to be as they want or expect it to be. As I said more than a few pages ago. I think this will be a casual game in the end... So what is to get upset about apart from the price....

Omg,some people really need to start reading-you have problem that i like game and you dont? its not like i said anything about faultless or something, just another made up stuff.
I like NMS - problem?I watched lots of videos and yes-i made my mind that i like this game-dont understand where problem is?
Just reading this thread its obvious that some hate just for the sake of hate.

I have no problem with people liking the game but you said that there are no criticism with the game at all without even playing it. Surely people can take at balanced view with positives and negatives even to games they like?

While some comments are clearly over the top and some trolling can you really not see that the game is getting valid criticism and concerns aimed at it?

exactly what?no MP? there is no concerns over game - its exactly like i imagined it will be,im sick of MP games and want exactly game like this-sit,relax,forget reality for a n hour and just play.

i praise this game as well, and im not preordered it,i simply i like what they did and what i see and im gonna play it

In regards to the MP fiasco, if this was a bigger Dev/publisher they would get slaughtered for it. They could have come on record before release and say 'it's not ready yet' or 'it didn't actually work' but no, they just hoped that there weren't enough people to ever find the same place and they wouldn't be caught out.

Their multiplayer doesn't work as he said. How can people defend that and even call people imbeciles for expecting a feature they said would be in there?

Had agreed with a friend that we would get the game just to try and find each other, after we liked the idea of setting our own objectives.

Probably the best bit about Eve is the chance that you could get completely turned over by other players (and vice versa), made even travelling from A to B butt-clenching. Without that, it the tedium would have been (even more) soul-destroying

Your ** No personal insults - EVH ** if you actually believed what the dev said. :rolleyes: It was never actually going to be in the game..... even though he said it a few times.

Out of interest, does this require you to be always connected to the internet?

Random placement. 18 quintillion planets. Regardless of whether you could actually see them in game or not...you are probably more likely to get run over by Nick Cage joyriding in the popemobile than being able to meet up with your friend before you died of old age, even if you were playing 24/7 for the rest of your life.
