North Korea

Not really, NK are only doing this because Trump threatened to flatten them :p

Which has weirdly managed to him a lot further with them than any previous president.

it just happens to coincide with the rumoured collapse of NK underground nuke test site......

There was a really interesting article by a guy who used to write for Forbes. The jist was that he drastically over inflated his wealth (which most of he accumulated via his father) and property holdings. I think this was it: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....762b08-4287-11e8-8569-26fda6b404c7_story.html

Whilst yes, I’d love his millions - when you’re given millions I’d imagine it’s quite easy to build on that.

The media is full of people who win or inherit millions and lose the lot within a few years. It's not that easy to build on wealth unless you are savvy and have some good business acumen and self restraint. Even here in the UK there are countless examples of family wealth being squandered due to drug usage, bad financial planning or plain greed and unrestrained squander.

Anyone who thinks Kim is even going to consider de-nuking let alone actually do it seriously need to brush up on their scepticism and critical thinking.
Kim will be all too aware of what can happen to violent dictators who give up their nukes/wmds, Kim will not commit the same mistake of Muammar Gaddafi

I don’t disagree, but I can’t hail him as an amazing business man given what I have read. Has t he been bankrupt twice?

lawl he wish's
Try tripling that, trump has ''taken business bankruptcies six times.''

Only the ignorant and gullible still think trump is a decent businessman, the utter moron can't even make money when ripping people off and not paying contractors

He essentially inherited his Dad's whole business empire. It isn't like he won a few million on the lottery.

http://www.politifact.com/florida/article/2016/mar/07/did-donald-trump-inherit-100-million/

If you adjust for inflation, what he was given/born into amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars and a whole business empire.

Do you know what's so synonymous now?

I don't support the guy, I'm no Trump lover, I don't like the guy but you can't.....

If something tangible comes out of this, that's good. Trump is capable of making good decisions (TPP), but he has a much more significant record of bad decisions of screw ups.

@mmj_uk define good? How does this booming economy benefit your average Joe and not almost exclusively the rich?

If North Korea does denuclearise and the sanctions are removed then Kim and his friends stand to become very rich people. It will be like the fall of the Soviet Union, except this time it will be planned for state assets to end up owned by the Kim family as foreign investment flows in.

North Korea didn't have nukes for years and nothing happened to them? Plus NK has the 2nd largest standing army in the world, it's not really comparable.

Why, it's a fairly logical outcome. Poor guy's probably sick of living in a second world country and wants to go home but he can't exactly abdicate or he would be executed by the military government that replaces him, on that note if he tries to progress/modernise things too quickly he risks a coup. It seems his end goal is probably for NK/SK to reunite then he can either go home or live in an improved/unified Korea.

You make it sound as if "Kim" is living in squalor and working in the fields with a lame donkey as his transport. He lives a life of abject luxury and wants for nothing, his altruism to his countrymen is definitely suspect ;)

The only country that could realistically invade are China and they've shown no inclination of doing so being NKs main ally and all. So Yup, not gonna happen.
The US won't do it because it risks conflict with China and massive damage to SK/Japan.
As long as NK don't do something stupid like attack the South they're safe. They don't need nukes when they've got friends like China. They literally have nothing to lose by this and everything to gain.

China won't lift a single military finger to help North Korea if they got attacked. It isn't C&C where your allies automatically declare war.

China is in no doubt, waking up to become a super power, their economy is connected to the world as the world is connected to them. The idea of them being a "buffer" is an outdated and obsolete statement that expired about 10-30 years ago, not to say, that buffer isn't still useful, but it doesn't hold the same strength as it did before.

Today, they wouldn't risk shooting themselves in the head to help North Korea who trade is only worth $3b compared to the $350b in trade with the US.

That said, I agree with you on that if military action was ever done, China should had done it and that Japan and South Korea are in danger of attacks from North Korea if all out war broke out.

If anything ever is going to happen between China and the US, it's over their artificial islands that they are building in the South China Sea.

You talk like Kim's a sane rational human-being, his a ruddy psychopath.
He had O Sang-hon executed by flamethrower ffs!

Ohhh, and trump is too stupid to realise that this pantomime with Kim is a sure way to make it appear to others like Iran that obtaining nuclear weapons is a great way to elevate your country on the world stage

Words are cheap, especially from NK who have promised to de-nuke many times in the past (8 times between 1992- 2012)

The big difference this time is North Korea has pledged absolutely NOTHING and 'king of the deal' trump has made serious concessions.
Yet trump and many republicans will still dribble on about how BAD the Iran deal is, what an utter joke.
