Number plates for cyclists...

bit early in the day normally to be drinking......but fair play to jonney keeping the forums entertained
You're welcome :)

Anyways back on topic. yea i think its dumb to put a number plate on cyclist but there does need to be some rules and regulations for cyclists though.

I dont know where most of you folks live but in London, a lot of people dont obey the road rules and im a cyclist myself and feel embarased with what some of the cyclist do and there attitude

Insurance is an unnecessary tax on cyclists, the vast majorty are responsible and safe,
christ, is everyone on the drink this morning?!
and feel embarased with what some of the cyclist do and there attitude
i think you've other more important things to be embarrassed about to be honest. :p

And when you report them, the police will just say RTFM mate. They can do that on a single track road so that idiots don't try squeeze past them potentially causing them injury or worse.

Thought someone would say this.....

So what happens when a car comes the other way? They have to drive into a ditch to let the cyclists past? No.... They would go down to single file, so that the car can get past, have a car behind is no different

Actually the car should stop so that the cyclists can get past safely. I know that won't happen though, the driver would just try pushing past anyway and then wonder why they have a PCN through the door 10 days later for reckless driving.

Haha. Checkmate
Not really. You said "its the road users that paid for it. Not the council". The fact that VED was planned to be ringfenced to fund roads, does not not mean that it is only VED that funds the roads. Council tax still funds it too. Which everyone pays, even if they don't use the roads. Even if VED vanished tomorrow, cyclist would still, therefore, be paying toward the upkeep of roads via their council tax contributions.

Besides, Bear's article is dated 2018 and is a pledge by a former Chancellor. I am still yet to find any later sources which say anything about it actually happening. Most later articles, such as the ones I posted, state categorically that it's still not the case.

Some of this thread be like.
I watched 3 video's last week about some fat Americans, therefore all Americans are fat
I watched 3 video's last week of bad Italian drivers...OH forget that they are all bad drivers, but you get my drift ;)
