Nurse arrested for murdering babies

Daily Mail article is suggesting she might have murdered or maimed to bring a senior married paediatric consultant at The Countess, (who the hospital and trial have refused to name, so for whatever reason he / she carries some serious clout), and who she was having a long term affair with, to her aid. Cites lots of texts which to me as a layman suggest the woman was an unstable attention seeker looking to keep him / her keen.

Looks like cover ups were even going on during the trial itself, amazing.

I'm sure the Daily Mail will know, they've never been wrong before.

Now this person's name will be dragged through the mud despite committing no crime.

She absolutely should have been given anonymity.

You expecting to get your collar felt in the near future or something Dialup? ;)

Not being able to come up with literally any reason why I am wrong, suggests I am.

Do you think her friends deserve to have their careers, families dragged through the mud? What exactly have they done wrong?

Have you got amnesia from last night? Her identity wouldn’t have remained anonymous. Too many people would have known who the case was about and her name and imagery would be everywhere within no time.

No, her friends and family don’t deserve it, nobody is saying they do.

No, her friends and family don’t deserve it, nobody is saying they do.

And yet they're getting it right now - and several people last night said they deserved it because the killer acted and therefore their friends are guilty by association! A deterrent they said!

If it was leaked she could sue and then it wouldn't happen again. This will end badly.

The public should know about her in case she somehow ever comes back into society. Prison inmates should know about her, so they can take procautions to protect themselves against her. Lobbying groups should know about her, so they can pressure the government not to release her.

There's no logic to assume her friends would suffer from guilt by association. This seems like a none argument. Will her family suffer? I doubt they'll get physical attacks, it seems unlikely and very rare. I imagine many people wouldn't want to associate with them, probably questioning what Letby's upbringing was like.

Her name and pictures been released is a large punnishment to her in the form of public humiliation.

No, several people last night didn’t say they deserved it and that they are guilty by association. One or two people mentioned the shame element but that’s not them saying they deserve it.

Who would she sue considering hundreds of thousands if not millions would know her name by then?

Should have CCTV fitted in every ward from now on should have been there anyway.
Not easy to do, you're talking about 30+ cameras recording incredibly sensitive medical information/personal moments that will likely need to be archived for decades.

We do have some monitored beds in Paeds but that's for the nurses to monitor high risk children and isn't recorded/archived. You could do something similar but it would be far less robust.

The main problem wasn't figuring out if she was doing it, it was getting management to act.

Interesting article pretty stone cold and cocky for most then she started to fall apart.

I wonder if they didn't find that note she would have got away with it, not sure what other evidence there was.

I was reading that blood tests showed high insulin aswell.

That's interesting read, thanks.

Could be in the writing of the article, but she seems to be a very internally sad and pained individual.

I would presume that a majority would have had to find her not guilty, though... so if the deductions that revealed the patterns which condemn her for some/most murders do not apply here, then presumably there now has to be an inquest into who did murder the remaining others, since the jury found her not guilty on those counts?

In such instances, the court may invite a majority verdict. On a panel of 12 or 11 jurors, 10 must agree. On a panel of 10 jurors, 9 must agree. If for any reason there are 9 jurors or fewer, the verdict must always be unanimous.

There were 11 jurors so 2 who don't agree on a panel will give you a not guilty verdict.

I just read that this morning

Kind of made me wonder if maybe there was a genuine death of a baby somewhere she worked, and she was surprised at the sympathy it generated for her in chats and messages, so she started doing it herself to try and keep that sympathy/chat going.
