Nvidia 30X0 series waterblocks

If the FE hits the 370W powerlimit @ stock then watercooling the FE is kind of pointless, no ?
I hate to agree with you but yes it looks that way...

You may get slightly higher clocks still due to better thermals but you wont be getting 100's of mhz. Unless an unrestricted bios is released to raise the limit on these cards.

Of course theres always the aesthetics and noise advantages of watercooling not to mention lower temps.

Even incase of the modified bios as I understand 2x8pin is 300w and pci-e is 75w so in total 375w is all that a 2x 8pin card can offer?
Hmmm you make a good point, i didn't even consider this. Looks like only cards with 3 x 8pin can make any use of higher power draws with modded bioses. Unfortunately it seems we will be bios and power locked regardless.

FE teardown doesn't look too bad, some extra steps perhaps over some AIB designs.

Gah to EVGA or FE.

Still gonna watercool an FE, airflow in my case is not good it's a water-cooling case really.

FE mate, you know its the only way really this time round. If you go with EVGA you might be looking at an extra week or 2.

Founders Edition water-cooling:

1) The Founders Edition fans run up to 1900-ish rpm under load. So water-cooling for me still offers a big noise advantage. I am lucky to be using a thick 560 with push pull 140mm fans for GPU alone (separate from CPU loop) that will easily cool 370W at fairly low RPM.
2) If you are air-cooling everything, the Founders Edition chucks a good proportion of that 320-370W GPU heat upwards into your CPU air cooler. Not ideal. I'd rather get that hot air directly out of my case.

It really is a great piece of engineering however: I admire it from a that point of view. And it looks dead easy to uninstall.

I`ll try to order 2x FE tomorrow and keep whichever one coilwhines the least, and just sell the other one, no shortage of buyers I imagine, if AIB models suck as much as people think they do.

The heat from the FE is no different to an AIB card and it is dissipated it isn't a heat gun for wall paper stripping. I anticipate temp differences to be negligible tbh for air cooled CPU users.

I could wait a week or two at this point easily to see if EVGA gets a block.

I'm starting to feel I have to buy a card (well, actually I do) but it doesn't necessarily have to be tomorrow now.

Hope not buddy, not very fair on the rest of us.

Ek reference block are on pre order now if you’ve registered. Looks like the fe blocks are going to take a while longer according to the email.
Just checked the config tool and they actually have assigned blocks to the cards now! Not one on the FE card though.

Think im gonna hold out, not even sure if im even gonna be able to get hold of a card tomorrow. If im able tomorrow to get hold of a card then at least i can wait and see what other companies bring to the market as well with regards to blocks. The FE block does look nice though from the teaser we've seen.

Yeah, kinda shame it's so expensive block + backplate separately...alphacool £120, EKWB €210
Told ya, it's in line with their magnitude products which if you look at it its easily £200 for a cpu block so i knew the gpu blocks would follow this as well. You're looking at £850 for a fully blocked FE card!

I'm not even sure that I am going to bite. I mean... I already have a 2080 Ti and I am waiting for an HP Reverb G2 to arrive (latest 4K VR setup). I might accept that I will miss the first allocation, use Turing and then see from my personal performance and feedback from people on the DCS forum (my main application) and then choose an Ampere for Christmas or Big Navi. The idea of a less power hungry Big Navi with 3080-ish performance and more GDDR memory for potentially a bit less cash... hmm.
