Nvidia 30X0 series waterblocks

i was lucky enough to pick up a zotac rtx 3080 trinity and not a week later i was browsing another website and happen to find the last zotac rtx 3090 in stock so i snapped that up too, i have sold on the 3080 (at msrp i'm not a scalper) and hopefully ek will send my new trinity 3080/3090 waterblock soon so i can tame it and rase the average clock's :)

for the lols i took a picture of all the cards i had before installing the 3090 in my pc and packing up the 3080 and liquid devil for the people who purchased them :)

I have the Zotac 3090 also. i notice Alphacool have stock of their waterblock

Congratz Wookie!! What a gem to get both the 3080 and 3090! I'm still waiting on my 3080 which ive got on preorder with ocuk but im contemplating cancelling it and just keeping the 3090 tbh lol. The coolers and size are identical on both the 3080 and 3090 lol, only difference being the extra memory chips on the back which 100% needs a backplate and active cooling. Let me know how you get on with the EK block as im hitting 55c on some intensive games on my alphacool block! I'm waiting on the Aquacomputer block which has the active cooling backplate. It gets so toasty its ridiculous!

i certinally will update you all how i get on with the 3090 and block install, i'm hoping to get temps around the 50 degree mark as on air they do like to run close to 80 which is fine but it does hurt the clock speed i can see around 1765mhz when it gets to around 80, though i do have 2 360mm pe classic rads my old setup had a 2080ti under water and i could sit around 47 degrees with a massive oc applied to the old card, time will tell :)

+180 on core
+400 mem
Core clock 2175mhz
Average core clock 1941mhz

on nice those clocks are pretty good tbh, mine on air with 100% fan speed can sut around 58 degrees with 2040mhz peak and 1841 average core clock, i dabbled in a bit of oc and managed +78 core and +300 ram and getting some decent uplift, temps increased to 67 degrees though.

i dont have port royal installed but here is my timespy score with +78 core and +300 ram

I dare not think what the temps would be if i tried to overclock like this on the stock aircooler lol, probably melt and catch fire :p

yeah defo dont do that to your shiny new gpu :)

got port royal now i'm gonna give it a go and see what i get :)
I really REALLY want a thick 360 radiator either 45 or 60mm thick... can't find one anywhere... :(. Wanna experiment with temps but can't without it, damn it so frustrating lol.

here is my sccore +78 core and +300 mem, i cant go much further because of the air cooler, i just wish i had my ek block :(

https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/51558625?

dont ek have pe classsic 360mm (45mm) rads in stock if so just buy direct from them?

just noticed something intresting on my run the reported max clock was 1995mhz where as in afterburner it was 2130mhz ???? bit strange

It's not a bad score tbh, just need to bump that up abit more and you'll see some good gains on a waterblock. As i've found out through this forum, its more about the average core clock you can maintain rather than the peak core clock.

Hmmm that is abit strange, maybe it didn't register on the benchmark? Tbh i've never payed attention to afterburner monitoring lol.

I've just seen a competitor has stock of the corsair XR7 55mm radiator! Might do a buy but do i really want to lose my vertical mount?

hopefully the block gets dispatched soon, and i hope i'm lucky enough to get a 5950x on launch day, get all that installed and i'll have another crack at port royal see if i cant get close to 13k overall score, i know it'll be tough but thats the joys of overclocking :) the zotac 3090 i have has a locked power target of 100% so thats gonna screw me over when it comes to gpu overclocking :(

Oh the zotac card is locked to 100%? no way! Might want to consider loading on a different bios onto it? I'm really tempted to load the Asus Strix OC bios onto this card lol... worried about borking it though.

i thought nvidia locked that feature out like on the 2000 series cards?
if i can i may get a zotac 3090 oc bios and see if that works on my non oc

my biggest problem is the air cooler the clocks drop like mad when temps go up :( on the oc side of it i see the core does ramp up almost to 2200mhz (2175) but drops back well under 1900mhz when the temps climb

My Palit allows me to go upto 104%, not a lot but its better than nothing and allows for that slightly higher headroom.

Have you ordered the block direct from the manufacturer?

its strange as the 3080 trinity i had allowed upto 105% but the 3090 is capped at 100% and always sticks to 350.9w under full gpu load

Just try flashing some different bios to the card and see if that boosts the PL.
