NVIDIA 4000 Series

I loved the old dual cards, rage fury max, voodoo 5 5500, 3870x2 gtx 295 etc. Just something about them was totally stupid but fun at the same time.
I had many MGPU setups, 5970 and 5870 Trifire, 295x2 Quadfire, Titan Pascal SLI, Voodoo 2 12MB SLI, 1080TI SLI and they were all great in the games that supported them. Usually they outperformed absolutely anything else
and if the games you played that needed more performance supported SLI they were amazing. RIP but both AMD and Nvidia should bring them back.

I had GTX 480 SLi, a month later I had a single GTX 480.
Every game I could notice the cross rendering of frames and FPS looked more like 30-45 FPS rather than the massive FPS numbers on screen, this was back with a SB 2500K at 5ghz, EVGA Z68 SLi board..
The single card output FPS was slower, but noticeably smoother and thus a better experience.

Not everyone is as sensitive to things like this but no I don't miss MGPU.

Yeah, hope thats
No reason to think that. 4090 first looks likely, but nothing saying that's the only one in 2022.

Good to know and hope that's the case. I'm interested in the 4080 the most, they'll probably drop the 4080Ti next year but if the difference is like between 3080 and 3080Ti, then I can safely dismiss it.

That's assuming it'll be possible to even get a 4000 series GPU at MSRP, fingers crossed.

If miners don't buy logic dictates you should be able to unless there are production issues.

People keep forgetting the scalpers will be in full force and that's going to be the main problem if supplies are in short supply, we have yet to see how the supply will be and if it is not keeping up with demand then expect scalpers to be out to rip you off.

Hopefully people will avoid buying from scalpers, people will be able to purchase at msrp with a little patience. The only reason scalpers would win out is if stock was an issue, which should be relieved by the lack of miner purchases. I mean I'm no expert but this is where my thinking is leading me.
edit: sorry yes, I'm in agreement with you but I think the situation will be in our favour.

The 4080ti will likely be quite a bit faster this time, I reckon around 25-30% if as rumours suggest the 4080 is on a 103 die.

Yeah, we'll have to wait and see but hopefully it won't be so bad if miners are out of the equation.

Where I live, there are loads of used 3080s people try to flog at MSRP which is still, IMO, unreasonable, but if the prices drop further to an acceptable level I might consider a 3000 series if I feel there might be problems with 4000 availability. For now, I'm waiting. Either way, no way I'm buying from a scalper.

I also think many people who held out will jump on the 3000 series if they're able to get them cheap enough. That'll most likely only happen if 4000 series cards are readily available though.

Oh, interesting. That's what I get for not following news:D I'll most probably upgrade before it releases anyways but good to know.

I think for 1440P high-refresh rate, the 4070 will fill my needs, and I don't need high-refresh as in 170 FPS in all games, I can cap to like 90FPS and still garner the benefits of the higher refresh in games that are more single-player or casual, for games that require precision then the max FPS is warranted.

The RTX 3070 has been an amazing card at 1440P for me and it shows no signs of struggling yet. But bare in mind I still never bought Dying Light 2, the only real game to cripple almost all cards with RT on.

His card sits around the 1900mhz clock speed.

Mine sits at 2025mhz when under the power limit and at 1995mhz when power limited.

Yep. Though this time there won't be as much demand and supply will catch up much quicker. I am happy to wait until the summer as that is the earliest games that will need the extra grunt over what I got which I am interested in playing will be coming out.

I will just patiently wait and grab one MSRP :)
