NVIDIA 4000 Series

Sorry, fellow revolutionaries, I gave in and bought a 4090.

I just don't believe that NVIDIA is going to reduce prices by much. And now the 5000 series look like it's going to be delayed, well, I give up. Here, Jensen, have all my money. I hate you *hands over all hard-earned-cash in tears, then goes on to Steam to tell everyone they own potatoes*

Chinese companies have already acquired $1 billion of AI GPUs from Nvidia so far this year and they've already ordered another $4 billion of GPUs for delivery in 2024

China's 4 largest tech companies currently make up 25% of all of Nvidia's revenue and all they are buying is A800 GPUs

Well he did put a 3070ti up for sale on MM.

You got me. I can't hide anything from the eagle-eyed amongst you.

You're right, the 3070ti is up for sale. The 4090 is already in and working.

For me, the 3070ti was an interim card. I was looking forward to the 4000 series, and was hugely disappointed with the pricing. But, lately, I've come to the conclusion that we aren't going to win the battle with NVIDIA over prices. They are reportedly suspending production of the 4080 and 4090, and delaying the launch of the 5000 series. And their behaviour just hasn't improved for the cheaper cards in the series. They aren't backing down over this, and why should they? They can sell silicon for so much more if it's for AI. So, I don't know, much as though I wanted to support the cause, I caved in and bought one. It was far more than I wanted to pay, but at least now it will last to 2025 and beyond. The guarantee lasts to 2027, so it's with me for at least that long!!

Report’s like this are usually from Nvidia’s own marketing trying to promote a false scarcity and of jeopardy in waiting, we had something similar from the 4070 a few months back when the card launched to poor sales while Gibbo often pulls this one saying a price cut is the last opportunity to get the card before stock runs out and prices go up and they won't be coming down again only to offer the same or even better deals a month later.

Worked on me!

Reasonably put my case back together now with the 4090 on the vertical mount.

I will sort cabling out a bit more once the new form 12V cables arrive, as I'll be swapping out the stock Nvidia one for the Seasonic version of whatever that is.

This isn't perfected yet, but I need to check temps are OK with all of the panels back on.

Don't know what PSU you have, but I bought the Corsair Braided cable. Was stunned at how small it was. It's about £5 dearer than the standard cable and looks superb.

It's a Seasonic PSU. I'm waiting for the 12V-2x6 cables to come along, the current set are 12VHPWR which is being superseded shortly.

Can use the stock one for a bit. I had the seasonic 12VHPWR one but returning it as may as well get the newer one when it comes out.

Nothing like a bit of fear to drive purchases!
Think of all that processing power!

I'll be sure to be on the used app years later, picking one up for a few loose coins. :D
Yeah just like people bought mining GPUs for peanuts which drove prices of new GPUs way down…. oh wait……

Along with my 4090 I grabbed a Cooler Master MWE Gold V2 1250W PCIE 5.0 Fully Modular 80+ Gold White PSU/Power Supply ATX3.0 to power it.

With all this talk of power connectors and the issue that people have had, should I be looking to get an different 12VHPWR cable or will the CoolerMaster one be sufficient?
