NVIDIA 4000 Series

As I thought. Would not take long for ASIC's. Why let yourself get milked by greedy Jensen?

Nvidia can maybe enjoy crazy AI profits for a gen or two more and then hopefully we can get some normality again.

I honestly do not see prices going back down, The prices for the xx80/xx90 cards have now been set, Nvidia like any corporation, And they are all greedy, Doesn't want mere profit, It wants profit on top of profit on top of profit on top of profit.

Problem is nvidia is so big and so well embedded and established now on all things cloud computing and AI, it's going to be incredibly hard to cut ties with them for a long time imo.

At least this will help slow them down from going up further faster.

Depends I say. They seem to have deal in place to milk us with AMD. But with Intel entering now, we may get better deals in the mid to high range.

I personally won't touch a Intel gpu until the gen after next at least to let drivers team get to where they need to be, but hopefully they get there and it becomes a three man race, or at least a two man one as AMD don't seem to be doing jack ****. Just copy what Nvidia does and provides a tiny discount.

Yup intel are our best shout tbh, I won't be surprised if we see intel take over amd in the dgpu space pretty soon, as it is right now, I would say intel are more of a threat to nvidia than amd are.

Hopefully slow things down though is my hope.

Plus I am not expecting 4090 tier to get cheaper. Just want 4070 tier at a decent price. Current prices are stupid.

You guys wanna see the difference between when Assassins creed was AMD sponsored and now its no longer sponsored?

I said this would happen, I said watch how AMD magically drops off because they no longer sponsor the game

AMD Sponsored:

Not AMD Sponsored:

Perhaps but I don't think it's actually so much down to sponsorship, nvidia improved their dx 12/rebar implementation a while ago which closed the gap in dx 12 titles especially vahalla significantly.

That and also amd older gpus haven't been getting the same love since rdna 3 came out either based on various games now i.e. a 3080 is often more matching/beating a 6900xt where as it was always neck in neck with the 6800xt.

Awfully convenient that a game series in which AMD has been traditionally better than Nvidia while the game received AMD sponsorship status each release and now the first game it's not AMD, but Intel doing the sponsorship suddenly AMD seems to have lost performance

If you have some benches that shows the 3080 or 3090 beating the 6900xt/6950xtnin Valhalla I'm all ears, cause it wasn't the case less than a year ago so let's see something recent

I said "matching/beating", not just "beating".

what I am referring to:

An older review before nvidia update:

Most recent performance figures from the 7800xt review:

So amd performance has also improved but where a 3080 was once beaten by a 6800xt, it is no longer the case and is basically "matching" a 6900xt. Nvidia fine wine? :p ;)

Still wish Ubi would implement DLSS into Valhalla or at least upgrade the less than stellar FSR1 to FSR2+.

I asked the modder PureDark if it was possible for a user to do this and he said "I do it all the time in many games I play just for fun" so if a lone modder can do it, It's annoying that Ubi refuse to.

I don't think it will be too close to the 4090, that card needs to remain the top halo long into 2025 until the 5090 comes out. Nvidia won't risk making the new 4080 that powerful else nobody will get the 4090 over the next year+ until the 5090 is out and we see a repeat of the 30 series whereby a 3080 was just a few % behind a 3090 whilst being a lot cheaper. Everything Nvidia has done with 40 series so far has pointed to the 4090 standing on its own so can't see that changing well into 50 series launching.

As quoted in another article:
It’s worth noting that the current RTX 4080 model features the AD103 GPU with 9728 CUDA cores, falling short of the full capacity of the graphics processor, which boasts 10240 cores. This suggests that NVIDIA is aiming for even greater performance, bridging the gap between the 9728 and 16384 core specifications of the RTX 4090.

So if that ends up being the case, then with the current 4080 being anywhere from 20fps to 40fps slower than a 4090 at 4K, the gap in the middle the 4080 Ti would fill should ideally sit 20-25fps slower than the 4090.

So the real 4080 instead of the junk we got for £1200 maybe incoming.

Looks like the return to the old days of titan vs ti possibly, which will be a shame as with ampere, it was a break in that where the high end class i.e. just xx80 provided similar performance to what was basically the titan i.e. the 3090 for a much better price, obviously made no sense from nvidias pov but was great for us.

The old days of titan vs ti says hello :p

I won't be surprised if we see a 80ti matching the 4090, similar to 3080 to 3090 perf. i.e. most of the time within 5-15% but with lesser vram so the 4090 will still remain top dog overall but it just won't have the same bang per buck if all you do is game and don't need the extra vram.

If there are more games out by then and/or geforce now doesn't get the games, I could be tempted but it would need to be no more than £1200 and I can't see that happening, anymore and well might as well just stump up for the 4090.

I don't think a 4080ti will be within 5% of a 4090 if the rumoured 100SM's is true as the 4090 has 128SM's, the 3080ti only had 2 SM's less than a 3090. IMO it'll sit inbetween the 4080 and 4090 so it'll end uo 4080 + 15% = 4080ti + 15% = 4090.

Yup edited my post 5-15% depending on game. Usually ti models had higher clocks too iirc?

I knew this was nvidias plan all along from the moment the 4080 and 4090 performance figures were released, it was just too much of a perf gap to not release a refresh/updated model down the line.

Key is pricing here, 4080 absolutely needs to drop to at the very least £900 in order for the 80ti to come in and be somewhat successful at £1100/1200 but sadly being nvidia, it will more than likely come in at £1300/1400 :o

Nah it'll be the same price as the 4080 and the 4080 will see a cut, the 4080 was always a terrible card at its price point and a cut would bring it more in line to where it should have been priced.

This is Nvidia we're talking about here....

It's the best thing to do but I'll be amazed if they do the right thing.
