NVIDIA 4000 Series

It’s only ever GPUs that seem to go up though, just bought a 1tb gen 4 m.2 for £40 and a couple of years ago these were like £150.

GPU's seem to live in their own little alternate reality bubble when it comes to pricing. Occasionally you get drops on them but more often than not they exist well above their msrp for no reason.

Just have to look at some pricing on here, powercolor 7900xt MBA version £899, yet you can get an asus tuf version for £870 or a sapphire version for £799. Says a lot when a reference card is priced higher than an asus card and those non reference are going to have better coolers and clock higher.

Yeah, retailers claim prices are largely down to exchange rates (anyone with half a brain always knew this was BS) and then move prices up on a daily basis, which obviously confirms this is nonsese as they're not landing stock on a daily basis, but artificailly restricting stock and then charging a premium for it. Every other PC component tends to fall in price over time in a predictable manner.

GPU's are a scam.

Gigabyte gaming 4090 arrived, but worse than the Auros Master in terms of coil whine. So that’s it, I am out for this generation.

Just one of the reasons I'm out of buying this Gen, along with the well known power connector problem.

Awful release, just awful.

Hoping (but will see) that the 5 series will be better, the industry must fix the connector, and address the coil whine issues.

Won't hope for better prices, that just isn't going to happen.

Are the 4090FE cards not considered a safe bet in terms of coil whine and connectors etc? I've got a 3090FE and it's just awesome. I only ever want to buy FE cards in future, the look and build quality are top notch.

Is the 4090FE ever in stock though? When did they last drop/ how often?

Purely anecdotal, but from what I've read since the 4 series launched, the FE series seem to have minimal, or zero coil whine.

If I was buying a 4090 now, it would fall between the Zotac (mainly for its 5 year warranty, certainly not for its looks :p), and the FE.

EDIT: The 4090 FE is (at the time of writing), and has been in stock for months.

The 4090FE is not actually in stock. It's cheeky as it looks like it is in stock on the listing page but when you actually click through - it's not! How long has it been like this? I've been occasionally checking in but only looking at the first listings page on Nvidia shop. Was having dirty upgrade thoughts but it seems like my potential upgrade path isn't actually there....

That is a bit cheeky.

My cablemod adapter suddenly decided to melt my aero 4090 this week. Bit weird its been fine for nearly 5 months, I made sure cables fully inserted with no pull on cable as instructed. Not sure what caused it.

Internet says: bad design
Rejected warranty claim says: user error
