I don’t see it like that, I’ve got a good case I’d rather not replace unless I have to.thats a bit contradictory, buying a 1600 quid gpu getting a cheap case

indeed, though generally referring to the contradiction of spending huge on a gpu but as the poster said, to keep budget down, if you can afford 1.6k for a gpu why would you keep budget down

That's some bad luck to get coil whine on a Gigabyte, they are generally the best. Msi and Asus have quieter fans though. Pick your poison lol.

Yea the Gigabyte Aorus Master I had featured no coil whine but had an iffy fan.
I gather the 1.1 revision Gaming OC is more susceptible to whine than the original… it’s a lot more noticeable than the Aorus.

My last three cards:
Gigabyte GTX 1080 (did have a little whine yes)
RTX 3080 FE (no whine)
RTX 4080 FE (no whine)

I have a little whine with both of my 3070s in Windows 10, but not in Windows 7 strangely - not sure why. Though either I've got used to it or it has quietened down as I've not noticed it in awhile but it was fairly slight - trying to replicate it just then I had to stick my head in the case to notice it at all.
Other than that I've not really had any whine with any of my GPUs except uncapped framerate in the simple graphics.
EDIT: After 2-3 years of use or so it seems to have mostly quietened down on my 3070s I can't replicate it like when they were new - I'd pretty much stopped noticing it after a month or two anyhow - not sure if that was due to it reducing with some use or me tuning it out.
Other than that I've not really had any whine with any of my GPUs except uncapped framerate in the simple graphics.

I bought a cheap case but from an old OG case brand that was very good on temps and simply upgraded the fans.
Because the idea of spending £30 each on fans is laughable imho, so I chose the most mesh asf case, without paying for a scene tax brand...
Then I simply took out the stock fans it came with and put some near silent BeQuiet's in that cost me a tenner each and my cpu/undervolted gpu never goes above 53-64C despite being next to an airing cupboard and I cannot even hear my system!
The BeQuiet case fans are on the lowest power you can run through them with PWM disabled and no need for watercooling or it's additional costs...
It lives under the desk and is an all black on black no rgb build inside and out with just full mesh front/top so even if I wanted to see it I couldn't haha! It cost me £85 all in with the fans in the end as customer service sent me my 3rd fan for free
Win Win?It comes in black or white as well, some pics below, btw this isn't my build, merely specs and some reviewer pics of what it looks like with the stock rgb fans, but gives you a good idea... As you can see it's very good for airflow/supports all the fans/rad's you'd need/massive cpu hsf, and a 7900xtx/4090 as long as you buy the right brand/model
Not bad for £65 imho...

The Zotac fans, my card is the Trinity non-OC 4090, fans seem fine in normal mode, audible when gaming but not obscene like some, in the quiet VBIOS fan mode it's essentially silent.

I meant the coil wine on your 4090 Zotac, dearestI don't use the stock Arctic AIO fans, I'm using Arctic PWM PST P14 fans on my Freezer II 280mm, along with PST P14 fans on the 5000D Air case too. Excellent performance, low noise low rpm

Oh yeah I misread and edited the post, no coil whine to speak of on my card. The PSU can affect coil whine variables too, I have a HX1000i for reference.
