NVIDIA 4000 Series

He likely doesn't care as he's living a life most of us would love, It's just funny banter, No malice intended, Good luck to the bloke. If I could live that lifestyle I would in the blink of an eye.

This.

He gets to ride around in Porsche's and Ferrari's, I get to ride around in a six year old £200 mountain bike!

:p:D

The 4090 has be n selling for double, $3000usd in the last few days compared to $1500 before the ban.

Imagine if you're one of those who just bought a 4090 for $3000 and a few days later it's down to $1500 lmao

TBH the larger number of people dropping $3K on a GPU probably don't care if its 1K, 2K, 5K, etc.

That remind me when US export ban of playstation 2 to Iraq with a hilarious conspiracy of Saddam's super military computer of daisy chained ps2's

I dont see the joke. It's a legitimate concern, as was the PS3 and the US considered trying to get PS3 sales to despots blocked as well. It was absolutely possible and a few companies absolutely did build supercomputers for dirt cheap by daisy chaining PS3's

Have sent my third 4090 back now. This generation is poop - even if you do want to spend moronic amounts of money you have to put up with crackly whine and naff fans.

Never experienced such faff with buying anything!

Not that anyone cares but as a recap:

FE - ridiculous, comical whine.
Aorus Master - tolerable whine but one duff fan.
Gaming OC rev 1.1 - whine levels in between the two and could clearly hear it several feet away.

I might bite on a Black Friday deal but if nothing comes across as decent I think that’s me ‘out’.

Can you hear it or are you listening for it? There's a huge difference ;)

It’s certainly enough to bother me. I have my PC behind my TV but I don’t want to exclude the possibility of moving back to a conventional desk set up and there is no way I’d tolerate the noisier cards at a desk.

The whine in the Aorus master was acceptable (it will have some whine) and I would have kept it were it not for the duff fan.

I’m not throwing over a grand on a card to have to tolerate these things. I want an exciting and satisfying purchase.

Fair enough, on that basis I'd say it's a you preference thing rather than "defective" cards. I have some tinnitus, I'm sure it would drive some people mad but 99% of the time I just tune it out and never even notice. Our perception of things and how we process them is a very interesting subject. Often the same set of conditions are perceived very differently and to all intents and purposes are different from the perspective of the observer.

In terms of silent fans (not audible, in a well ventilated case) you've got a choice between a Strix, Tuf, Trio or Suprim.

Coil whine wise every model can be susceptible, with the gaming OC been the least likely to have it. I myself focus on what I can control the fans. I've never had a 4090 with 0 coil whine and I've had 9. Just 3 that were really low.

Yeah the fans on the ones I had were fine… when they were working properly.

It’s been a case of a defective, unacceptably rattly fan that blighted an otherwise acceptable card. Card had 3 fans, 2 of them worked fine. 1 had really annoying rattle.

Probably because price issues aside, Asus does have some very nice designs. If I wasn't able to get a 4090 FE my next choice was a 4090 Strix, More expensive yes but the only other card outside of the Founders that I think looks very clean.

1 thing a lot of AIB's do that annoys me is they leave the end of the card open exposing all the heatpipes, Fins etc... I've always thought that looks so lazy, Founders and Strix nicely and neatly wrap the whole card and cooler up.

The only Asus card i like at the moment is the ProArt card but shame its only a 4080 and at a ridiculous price point, more than a 4090 i think.
