NVIDIA 4000 Series

Fair enough, on that basis I'd say it's a you preference thing rather than "defective" cards. I have some tinnitus, I'm sure it would drive some people mad but 99% of the time I just tune it out and never even notice. Our perception of things and how we process them is a very interesting subject. Often the same set of conditions are perceived very differently and to all intents and purposes are different from the perspective of the observer.
Interesting about the tinnitus. I myself have pretty bad tinnitus and cant stand coil whine at any level, its the pitch of it that really f's me off. The tinnitus on the other hand, I don't think I would be able to sleep without it lol its my white noise.

Oops miss this post earlier - whether it’s ‘defective’ may be slightly subjective, in that you might put up with it, but I’d say they were defective. Regardless, they were crap and I didn’t want them :p

But yeah this sort of insect chittering on the FE I had is dreadful:

The only Asus card i like at the moment is the ProArt card but shame its only a 4080 and at a ridiculous price point, more than a 4090 i think.

It's odd that the ProArt costs more considering it's just a 4080 Strix with a massively toned down modified shroud, RGB removed etc.... Guess they're playing on peoples ignorance of seeing the word "Pro".

Pretty much this, they made it look more classy and contemporary and people automatically fell in love with it. Its just 100% not worth the mark up they put on it, i'll give Asus one tihng... they are really good at marketing to people's wants.

4070 TUF has arrived. All-metal, built like a tank, one 8-pin, 56C under full load, dead silent.

Pretty happy considering I paid under 7800XT retail for a sealed one and less than worse 4070s go for.

Looks like a solid stopgap till 5xxx or used 4080/4090, even though it'd be great if it went under it's real name 4060Ti and cost a bit less. It runs everything smoothly though, with solid settings at ultrawide res and satsfies my silence/efficiency OCD while doing it:P

Would be nice to have an UW oled to pair with it since I really got used to the C2 but I have to say games look pretty good on the S3422DWG and there's surprisingly little smearing (until I turn, uhm, "HDR" on it, then you can clearly smearing when scrolling white text on dark backgrounds, it does add some pop to the colours in games due to decent peak brightness and contrast but it's hardly HDR ). Should've gone all out since it turns out I didn't even need to get used to 34" ultrawide, it feels completely normal:P

Anyways, 5000 series please be priced reasonably (yeah:rolleyes:)

Going by current info we have 14 months until the 5000 series, TSMC are slowly ramping pries which will mean Nvidia will also ramp prices. Expect the worst so you are never surprised.

No worries, I've been molded by always expecting the worst:P

I'll always have used 4080s/4090s of those who will inevitably think 5090 is the most sensible choice/incredible value/only worthwhile option to fall back on:D

Nvidia already profits massively per wafer and could easily absorb a 200% tsmc price rise and still be well in profit, take a 4060ti 16gb die which costs around $50 to make, even at $150 per die Nvidia would still have had $350 left to for the rest of the build costs and profits.

Yeah but this is Nvidia, If they can raise prices, They will raise prices, They don't just want good profit, They want profit on top of profit on top of profit on top of profit on top of profit on top of profit.

If any and all corporations could get away with human trafficking to make profit, They would for their god, Profit.

Interesting jumps this month. 4070 making a comeback?

https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/?sort=name

A lot of movement in the charts generally, possibly due to Counterstrike 2.

Rumours of Super cards coming out maybe q1 or q2 possibly with price cuts?

Super cards in Q2 ? Yes, Price cuts ? You have a better chance at Jensen coming to your house dressed in an Nvidia green mankini to give you a lap dance while a Peruvian Llama Sheppard serenades his flock of Alpacas with a live performance of Mondo Bongo by Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros.

The 4070 Super looks interesting if rumours are true.

20% increase in core count over the 4070 should put it slightly behind the 4070ti but a decent uplift over the standard 4070. Still only 12GB but might suffice for 1440p gamers. No idea on pricing but they'll likely stick it between the 4070 and 4070ti.

Nvidia need to release a 4080 super at like $899/$999, and they'd clean up. Not sure there are many people left to sell 4090 and current 4080 cards to.

Similar to how the 1080 ti came out at $699 and cleaned up and massively undercut Titan XP and Titan Xp.

We'll never see a card like the 1080 Ti ever again, Nvidia learned from that very successful mistake.
