NVIDIA 4000 Series

Ive wanted the 4090 for ages but the absolutely mental prices of it have put me off. I kept seeing the prices going up and up so now that the founders edition is back I jumped as soon as I saw your post.

£1579 is still a lot seeing as it was £1519 a few months ago but oh well. It’s my Christmas treat to myself lol

Enjoy it, Beast of a card, Something I've been doing lately is going back and playing much older games using DLDSR on my ultrawide OLED with silly high FPS, The experience is a constant eyegasm.

At some point you've really got to wonder how much money these businesses really need.

It's never about need with companies, It's about want, This goes for any and all companies in existence. Profit is their god and they will do anything for this god. It's why back room shady deals are done every single day, To get even more profit.

Taking the block off the FE was also one of the most scary experiences. Just that tiny silver crossover piece had me going for a good maybe 30 mins or so!

Yup i know what you mean, i struggled a little taking the first piece off tbh as you have to jam a wedge in to lift the cover. After i had it apart a few times i got confident but hopefully won't need to do that again now the waterblock is fitted.

From what i've read the KF variants have slightly higher SP values and might have slightly better overclocking potential. Not fully looked into it tbh...

Thought if i was to get a 14th gen now it would either be the 14700k or older 13900k which is basically the same as a 14900k. Missed the offer **elsewhere** when they were selling 13900k for under £400!

A well binned 13900K is the go to for Intel. I used to like Silicon Lottery (closed company) and Prebinned at OCUK, then I got a leaky delidded liquid metal chip from OCUK and gave up on all that.

Did they warrant the leaky lid and replace it for you?

Yeah there was another company that did this too but i had no dollar at the time to make these types of purchases lol. Pre binned doesn't seem to exist anymore now since everything is pretty much at its limit from factory.

Saying though that, i did squeeze 5.2ghz out of a 12700k within a safe voltage, 5.3ghz with a higher voltage but not comfortable with that on custom watercooling.

Yeah they sorted it, can't really remember. I think I ended up with 8pac Shakur getting involved and he is a funny guy with responding to queries!

Perfect component selection! What RAM?

I went for 32gb Corsair vengeance 7200mhz cas 34.

I believe it’s a die.

I was looking at the 48gb and 96gb kits but the retailer I used didn’t have a die and the timings were quite bad.

This is only for gaming and Kodi really so hopefully 32GB is enough.

Cost me £135 which is decent. I stuck with low profile so I don’t run into issues with air coolers. I’m using a u12a but will be going for the new d15 if that ever arrives.

Rest of the components is:

I went with 990 pro’s on my last rig but fancied a change as firmware issues with Samsung put me off, and there were low speed issues with the 980 pro’s before that.

I know the firmware sorted it but I wanted to mix it up a bit.

Power supply is overkill but I got it “cheap” and it should last me several builds without ever worrying.

I have spent a lot but life’s been tough recently so wanted to treat myself :)

Here it is finished. Just need to download updates, drivers etc and then download games. It’s this part of pc gaming I hate lol

Oh and I do need some fans, completely forgot about them when buying all the bits. The included fractal ones ain’t that great, not even pwm so that’ll be next on the list and I’m done for a while.

Looking sweet! Love the all black look. From what I have heard 7200Mhz is a good set and forget.
