NVIDIA 4000 Series

Depends entirely on price. I can probably get £350 for the 3080 so if price is <£800, I could be tempted if it is offering 4080 perf. but as it is, there aren't any games where I feel the need to upgrade still and by the time we have got more consistently demanding games, 50xx will be close to release.

Only took out geforce now for 1 month for cp 2077 and PT. Was considering it for AW 2 but it ended up running pretty well and avatar runs like a dream, that and I'm not paying for the new min 6 months subscription.

That's you off Jensen's Christmas card list.

:D

Same here everything runs great on the 3080 and finding optimized settings on YouTube takes 2 minutes.

PS5 pro is also coming out and Nvidia will counter it as they have always done with every new console. I'm certainly waiting for the 5xxx series.

But but but vram issues, herp a derp!!!!! :p :D

I could be tempted by a ps 5 pro if they can start to get games hitting 60 fps with visual fidelity and ray tracing, that and sony developing their own upscaling solution will be a big win, will more than likely be on par with dlss and most importantly, actually get incorporated into games.

You won't be able to resist what Nvidia will offer you, here is the history of releases:

PS3 -> 8800GTX
PS4 -> GTX 780 Ti, R9 290
PS4 Pro -> GTX 1080 Ti
PS5 -> RTX 3080

Ok so the new build is pretty much done. Still have to migrate secondary SSDs from my old machine and power cabling is a bit messy until my new Cablemod set arrives but it's all functioning.
The aforementioned buzz/coil-whine from the 4090 is nothing that will bother me. It's very feint in a closed case and only really happens at silly FPS when benchmarking.

Basic build details are:
Phanteks P600S
Asus TUF Gaming X670-E PLUS WIFI
Ryzen 7 7800X3D
32GB G.Skill 6000CL30
4090FE
NZXT Kraken 360
AX1600i

I've been testing benchmarking this thing and it's utterly brutal, laughing at everything I've thrown at it so far.
Basically doubles the performance of my current machine which, when you consider that's a 10700K & 3080, is some feat.

Aside from the performance, I'm very impressed with the 4090FE physically. It's an absolutely unit and incredibly well built, with no sag whatsoever due to the three-slot bracket properly fixed to the chassis of the card, unlike a lot of AIB cards.
I also really like the aesthetic, simple & clean without loads of RGB etc, just the simple logo and top light in white.

My old 3080 (can't believe I've had it three years!) will find a permanent home in my ITX LAN machine, then it'll be a case of breaking down the old machine and seeing if I can flog any of it to try to recoup some of the hideous cost of this thing.

Just playing The Witcher 3 Next Gen on my OLED and WOW it looks AMAZING! However...

Runs like ARSE with Raytracing on with my 3070 TI, so yet again another game I need to upgrade for :cry: :cry:

So that's Ratchet and Clank/Alan Wake 3 and Witcher with Raytracing

Rumoured to be a cut-down AD103, hence the mem bw increase.

Of course the irony here is that the 4070Ti is just a renamed 4080 12GB, the product they were forced to cancel after trying to market it as a 4080 with less memory when it was a fundamentally different card.

A 4080Ti SUPER actually being a slightly cut down 4080 would thus be somewhat hilarious.

Hello, I had a 4080 Zotac Trinity that was working fine, but then the upgrade itch caught me and i managed to sell it for a decent price and get a 4090 Trinity used. However the 4090 has a grindy rattling fan noise that is unbearable, the 4080 did not have the same noise. Do you think this will be covered by warranty if I send it in? worried they might just send it back and charge me for testing it.

I would think so yes but its not for any of us to say.

Your best bet is to speak to them.

Yes, fan bearing fail!

Had that on my 2070 RTX, however in that situation I ordered two fans from ali and replaced them lol

I went from a 1080Ti to a 3080 to a 4090, all legends in their own lifetime really (Turing was a joke).
Still have the 1080Ti although will be on the MM soon.

I actually think the 4090FE is the best of all of them. Significantly cheaper than any of the AIBs, better looking, more compact and better built than most too.

I wish I had £1600 spare (instead have small people to spend that on!) otherwise I would have got one too :( :confused:
