NVIDIA 4000 Series

Looks quite the beast the 40xx if the 4090 is anything to go by and that's only dx 12 too?! Imagine the RT improvements.....

With AMD at long last matching dlss now with fsr 2.1, the only reason I will go nvidia is for RT but if RDNA 3 matches/beats 40xx for RT then I'll probably switch back to amd, shame amd are launching a month later though iirc?

Question is, if you go AMD, will you be allowed to join the what do you call it? Inner knitting club? :p

The RTX4090 Timespy Extreme score is 80% higher than RTX3090ti and 90% higher than 6950xt

Gigabyte RTX4090 listings have popped up on store websites in Australia and Vietnam

Ooh. ***** getting real. Nice scores that if real. Bodes well for 4070/80 scores :D

If true, it is much better than I was expecting! Ignoring RT performance as that is a given this gen will be a big leap over ampere..... I was expecting 4070 to match 3090ti, 4080 to beat 3090ti by about 35/40% and a 4090 to beat a 3090ti by about 45/50%

Wonder how much the 4090 is going to cost to run with the increased costs etc.
From October the price cap will typically be about £0.50/kWh, so a - for example - 400W GPU running at 100% for a hour would cost a maximum of about 20p. Obviously doesn't include the rest of your system or monitor etc.

Your current rate is probably less, but that will change depending on your contract.

Thanks mate, guess I’m still getting a 4090 then :D

Actually, the figures released are:

Electricity
Unit rate: 34.00p per kWh
Standing charge: 46.36p per day.

Gas
Unit rate: 10.30p per kWh.
Standing charge: 28.49p per day

Anyone buying a 4090 will not be too bothered by the electric cost.

I will go 4070 or 4080 and I am fine with the electric cost. Plus I cap fps most of the time so the GPU never runs full pelt unless I am playing the latest most demanding games like Cyberpunk.

Wonder if the 40xx will be as good for undervolting as ampere is.... Got my 3080 running lovely at .825 @ 1815, barely uses more than 260-285w depending on game/fps

Speaking of efficiency...

The people who buy what I would consider Titan class i.e xx90 and up for retail launch prices aren't typically people who worry about electricity prices. Prices could go up an extra £5000 on top of the incoming price rise and it wouldn't even make them blink.
