NVIDIA 4000 Series

Running some tests, Cyberpunk

90-120fps with FG, average 60 without depending on the scene
But the temps so far........ 62C at 38% fan speed!
For £1,500+ I'd be expecting all the bells and whistles at native, with the exception of poorly optimised games. Is CP2077 one of those?

Yeah tbf it was the wrong word, I agree. I just meant if I got a 4090 I don't think I'd even bother thinking about getting a new GPU for atleast 3-4 years.
If 5k series is brilliant, price difference not huge, my 4090 will go on sale and swap will happen. However, I highly doubt that will be the case. Even now to really see big enough (40%+) difference between 4080 and 4090 one needs to go to 4k and higher resolutions. There are often other bottlenecks in the computer as games aren't just pure graphics.

5800x3D
32gb 3600 RAM
1 m.2 drive, 1HDD and 2 SSDs
Noctua CPU Cooler
B550 A Pro motherboard.
I'm running similar config but 850W Corsair PSU and encountered 0 issues. I've got Corsair power cable as well for 4090 to not use their rather bad cable converter and to minimise the risk of melting.

That said, 750W should be ok too, however it depends even on the age of the PSU (they get used up with age), though good Corsair ones usually can run higher than the sticker shows and will work ok.

That said, my 4090 is power limited by me to 80% as it barely loose any speed with that and yet saves considerable amount of power.

I hope that wasn't directed at me. I'm pointing out that Nvidia have, and will continue to pretty much own the market, that they are still making money hand over fist and the consumer market isn't really their priority so they don't "need" to do anything re: pricing for their profits.
I am firmly in the 'we are getting screwed by them' (the market, not just Nvidia) camp.

Not at you as I don't have your cheerleader outfit size and pom poms as I do for some of the regulars that are cheerleading for profit making organisations that are behaving unethically ;) in a very strange way.

I cheer for these companies to do well and give us good quality technology as an enthusiast, but not behave in unethical ways as some of them are doing, so they need calling out and as customers or future customers we should be agreeing that we should not be getting ripped off in this manner.

Especially a cheerleader that has a 3080 and now a 4080 has doubled in price over one GPU generation compared to his last purchase and on a smaller die.. Nvidia didn't get the memo on real world inflation rates and hasn't realised lockdowns, mining are over and 4080s are not good A.I cards too so why the doubling in price overnight on a gaming GPU ?

Definitely? I've had so many conflicting answers on this haha.
You will be fine a 5800X3D will max out at 120w spikes, it's one of the most efficient cpus. Intel you would need a reactor not a PSU  . Kidding apart you will be fine with a 4090 with 3 x 8pin to the new 12pin connector on a 750w. As long as you don't overclock the cpu or gpu and leave them at stock. Start overclocking and all bets are off.

Also make sure to run 3 PCIe separate power cables from the PSU to the GPU adapter 3 x 8pin to 12pin.

I what sometimes get missed is that just because people think Nvidia's marketing tactics are bad it doesn't automatically make AMD good, or "better value". Nvidia have pushed the pricing and AMD have ridden on their coat-tails. They can both do one as far as I'm concerned until they offer better value.

Having more disposable income also doesn't make them any better value, it just means you don't care as much about the cost.

Agreed.

Ok great, does my PSU have them 3 cables or will I need to buy extra?

Even if the 5090 is only 40% faster than a 4090 that will make it twice as fast as a 4080 and 3x as fast as my 3080, so that's the upgrade I'm waiting for if I'm going to have to pay big bucks.

It comes with two that split into two 8pins.

Your psu uses type 4 corsair cables , so this cable is what you would really need to make it neat and easier to wire up without that silly adapter.

OUT OF STOCK

B-grade one in stock at ocuk so could just add that to the purchase if buying from ocuk.

More details about your PSU here :-

The Ryzen Phoenix based APUs are pretty crazy - almost 5800X3D performance in some tasks (though they don't hold up against desktop CPUs in all tasks quite as well) at sub 60 watt spike and 20-30 watt average. (EDIT: In fact in some stuff they are slightly faster).

Gamersnexus says they have shipped in a mobile configuration and AMD have acknowledged that. So they might get more performance after AMD does an update(microcode or new AGESA?).

I've made sure the power connection is in and it's not pulling, however who the hell invented these cables at Nvidia HQ?

Appreciate the content and the work gone in to make it, but why is he so animated on the screen..? I kept struggling to "track" him, at times he would zoom over in the corner, once just leaving a hand pointing, I lost him on that one.

Because he uses cheap editing and has been told as much, but just ignores people and drags himself around the screen like a student showing his teacher his first editorial skills
