NVIDIA 4000 Series

Yeah I bin those Nvidia cable adapters instantly. I do not trust them one bit. Just get the PSU maker's own 12VHPWR cable tbh :p The quality in the cabling and material and construction is rather a bit higher than the Nvidia one, and you don't have like 3-4 inputs going into the 1 16 pin either, so objectively safer from bending/failing.

More interested in the Akasa Viper fans! Loved me some of those back in the day. I still have one in a box, should use it in a build really, they look sick!

Best fans I've ever used!

I have three up front, and also two below pushing on the GPU!

I've made sure the power connection is in and it's not pulling, however who the hell invented these cables at Nvidia HQ?

They were quizzed about this power connector before launching the cards by jayz2cents and others, but their response was basically 'trust me bro it works'. That worked well....

Especially a cheerleader that has a 3080 and now a 4080 has doubled in price over one GPU generation compared to his last purchase and on a smaller die.. Nvidia didn't get the memo on real world inflation rates and hasn't realised lockdowns, mining are over and 4080s are not good A.I cards too so why the doubling in price overnight on a gaming GPU ?

Cheerleading?

By saying, what choice is there if people want to buy now/upgrade? You still haven't said what to do here..... Saying to not buy anything or go amd is not a one size fit for people who don't care that much about "bad nvidia!!!!!" and don't want to go to amd because amd are not competiting in areas that said people might care about.

I also haven't bought a 4080s yet but I may end up doing so if the next couple of games I play struggle on a 3080 (as in have to substantially drop settings or/and user a much higher dlss preset, dlss performance works well but I rather try to run DLSS perf and DLDSR)

You are throwing **** at people for buying what is arguable a decent value gpu in the grand scheme of things when you bought a 3090 which as shown has offered the worst performance to price ratio of all time (well ofm what is shown in said graphs anyway)......

You have joined the circle of the awakened now and you are seeing what we have seen for a bit now :p Ok I had a 3080 Ti before but this is on a whole other level

Oh deffo! Glad I went with this one though, as I read some bad reviews for the cheaper models... Palit/Gainward etc

Was I happy with the cost? No! But I've waited some time for this, even the 3070 ti was second hand lol

Tbh you want high end gaming performance, and this seems to be the cheapest way to get high end really. The 4080 was too ridiculously priced to be classified as a decent deal, but the 4080 Super is at least cheaper and closer to what the 4080 should have been. It's just that as the reviews show, being 1-3% faster than the 4080 leaves people underwhelmed, but at least it's at a better price now:p

Someone will be along shortly and say the 7900XTX exists, well it does, but it's not high end when you turn on RT/PT vs a 4080 lol.

I'm shaking my pom poms! Been awhile since I've been impressed by an upgrade ( other than the oled ). Just shows how underperfoming the 3070 ti was. Also I can see why you love your 4090 haha

How you finding frame gen/dlss 3 compared to the modden version and fsr 3 Neil?

- no reflex (anti lag is not as good)
- FG isn't anywhere as well adopted and FMF as evidenced is hit and miss with it being more miss....
- cuda
- recording/streaming isn't as good
- lack of good upscaler
- lack of other features like rtx video enhancer and now sdr to hdr feature for streaming videos and local video files via mpc hc)
- runs hotter and louder
- can't play any of the rtx remix games coming out without corruption or/and acceptable performance
- lack of dldsr

And probably a few other things I have missed.

But the 7900xtx has 24GB vram and runs COD at 400 fps instead of 360 fps!!!!!!! :p

I do think nvidia should have just done a price cut on their gpus instead of refreshes as it has somewhat done more harm I think but then again, the same people who are crying now would have still be crying about it not discounted enough. Like I said earlier back, originally the big issue with the 4080 according to the same people at launch time was the ridiculous price, now nvidia have brought the price down to a more acceptable level (and I agree still not enough) but now that is no longer the issue but it's the "only 1% improvement over the 4080!!!!" which is now the main issue???

Hard to say really, I think smoother, better gaming experience?

For the time being it made many of the games playable when previously the 3070 ti was struggling. However you could certainly tell the base frame rate wasn't good with some of them. However now you're going from 90fps with FG to around 120-160 (locked under hz) all running ULTRA. Whereas before it was low to medium and sometimes raytracing off ( Alan Wake ) to all on.

It is so so much better!

The Witcher 3 is now running ULTRA+ all the bells n whistles and hardly ever drops below 110fps!

I'd say in some games, you probably wouldn't even need FG!, although if you're going to get one, the ZOTAC OC is deffo a good one!

I think Nvidia has played a blinder, I mean look at all the people here turned their noses up at a 4080 thinking it was a bad deal but have now rushed out and got a 4080 super despite it being the same performance and the same price the 4080 was selling at anyway and now they think it’s a good deal.

4080 (good models and not the cheap ass ones) were selling brand new for £950?

I would only be interested in the FE due to it being the smallest as well as imo, being one of the better ones for premium feel/look and dumping more of the heat out of the case than keeping it in the case.

What 4080 super models are selling at £950?

Looking on OCUK the basic models start at 1k

Are people being forced to pay that at gunpoint?

Just like the 3080, I'm not going to overpay so why would I overpay for a 4080s if I'm going to get one?

Blame etailers and aibs for their price gouging. Not Nvidia.

So basically they are not really any cheaper than the 4080 which has been available at 1k for the past few months.
